T/E Maxx Thread

Nice to see you here too, from what you talk about in the TC3 forum you really dig that Maxx.
Now the question is do I go for E-Maxx or T-Maxx.
Bearing in mind it probably wont be raced just bashed about unless the Snetterton off road track gets my attention. But I dont really have the cash (spend a bit for martial arts training) to race two cars/trucks and I got a bit of cash tied up in the TC3.
Ok I have some batteries for the emax but use those for racing and desire the longer run times that nitro can deliver.
Stock how long is the emaxx run times? I have 4 2400 and 2 2000 mah batteries. The 2400 are my race cells and the 2000 are for practice/tuning
Can you give me pros and cons of each?
Cheers M8

Well, I wouldn't suggest running your good packs on the E. If you decide to get an E, I would just hold off and get some ok packs for it. Wouldn't want to overuse your good race packs now, would ya???
Pros and cons. Well, have you ever had a nitro vehicle before??? If you have, then you have some knowledge of tuning. That is the biggest thing for people to learn. And the hardest.
Nitro gives you longer run times with less down time in between runs; electric has longer down times, but, in most cases, can be upgraded with a little less cost and have more power. Plus it's easy. Plus it's a little cleaner. But, you can upgrade the Nitro to a .21 or XTM's new 24.7 motor and get some amazing power (if tuned correctly) out of it. AND long run times.
I couldn't decide so I have one of each
. The stock T motor is really boring for me (since my E is ridiculously fast), so I'm in the process of converting to .21 power.
Check out MaxxTraxx dot com for some other good info on these trucks.

I gotta agree with TPhalen on this one, i would say if you already have electric to stay with it in this case, i have a T, E and a Clodzilla 4, and out of the 3 i play with the 2 Electrics most, for 2 reasons, #1 electric is instant torque, and alot more fun for me since i run in a rocky wooded area where i really can't go fast, and #2 cleaning....i can clean my electrics up quickly with a brush whereas with the TMAXX i spend upwards of an hour or so cleaning the thing so therefore i run it less., Either way you go you are getting one of the best R/C products on the planet right now and will have a blast with either,

Anyone here tried the associated shock kit? The shocks on this emaxx are pretty weak...can't handle the big jumps. Also what weight oil and springs does everyone suggest? I jump it about 25 feet long and land from 8 feet in the air.
I've wanted to get that shock kit by progressive suspension...but its too much money for me
. I can get the assocaited kit for like $50 with my swank employee discount

LOTS of Engines to choose from...probably the best deal going right now is the Megatech .16 rated at 1HP for around $100 and a Guy came into the Shop i work PT in the other day and had a plain 'ol OS.15 CV (~.56hp) in his jerking the front tires off the ground for reliability go with the OS .15CV or .15CV-R (1.1hp) if the OS isn't in your budget go with the Megatech by all means, in either case you will see a huge improvement if the motor is properly tuned

most Traxxas engines like to run in the 180-190 range now this is what i've seen recommended to many people, BUT here is the kicker....those temps are with Blue Thunder Fuel, if you are using Trinity (Which is a good fuel) the motor is going to run much cooler (i've seen as low as 145) and i have found that the Traxxas motors run better with the Traxxas or Blue Thunder fuel with a little heat in them.

Just got my proline suspension kit in!
Can't wait to put it on. I'm going to wait until I can get some new shocks for it. I was thinking either the AE ones or the ones by Progressive Suspension. It will be running by the time school is out.

If I were to get one of those trinity Monster motors would you recomend the wild or pro. I really wanna go fast but also have runtime to play with. Ill be running it with 3000 packs. So which ones do you think are better (does the pro go a lot faster or wild have a lot more run time)? Also do the reedy bad maxx run just as good as the trinity?

Hello, I'm new to this site. Looks like a cool one.
I think some of the best shocks are these. If you wait, the pics will scroll. http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/shocks.shtml
They have awesome quality. They're heavy duty! Usually 1/8 scale shocks cost twice this much. They have tons of travel.
I put them on my truck. They are awesome! I tried AE shocks, then went to Progressive shocks. These OFNA shocks blow 'em both out of the water.
Here's some pics of my latest pride and joy. Don't let the cleanliness fool you. I love driving it in the dirt and eating up other maxxes on the race track.
