I'm thinking I need to try a 19T pinion. My motor was up to 150F today after only half a pack in 30F weather! No ventilation in the body yet, though.

So, after helping my son out with his build and gluing up his tires, here is my observation. This is the first kit that we have built that comes with what I thought an after-market decent racing tire. I normally have to buy those separate. But, now I see why it did come with the tires. These looks to be like some type of second hand quality from pro-line. It's is not their normal quality. The pro-line foams are known for the ballooning. I use ofna foams in ours because they last longer than the pro-line. So, it may not be your tire mounting skills but rather the quality of those kit tires.

I'm going to run the stock pinion first. I'm soldering some deans on it right now.

Ok I ran it on 4S. It wasn't bad. I wasnt overly impressed with the power. Although it may have been spinning the tires the whole time.

The tires are shot down the middle after 1 5 minute street bash. I only stopped because of the tires. If I'm going to run it on the street, I definitely need some street tires. I will say that I think my mini e revo could take it. And
I also put the 21 tooth pinion on. So now I think I need 2 more batteries. 5 and 6s to satisfy me with the speed. My MERV on 4s is freakin insane. This may be good enough for racing though.

I also ran into another problem when I removed the battery, I noticed that my front diff out drive cup is getting shredded by my B plate. It only goes on one way, so I don't know why. And I don't know how to fix it. So I guess I'll take it apart to see what's up. Here's a pic of the carnage though.

Yeah Im gonna take it apart and see what's up. I was pretty sure it only went on one way. Maybe I was wrong.

Yikes! That sucks Gregg!! I haven't driven on the stock tires yet, but I will say that the Road Rages from Pro-Line have taken a good bit of high speed runs with skids at the end, standing starts with all 4 spinning, etc. without too much wear. It's only been 3 batteries worth, though, and it's cold here so that hardens the compound a bit (and traction sucks!). I don't like how much they balloon, and I have two that are crooked. That said, I can do a full speed blast with an 1800kV motor, 21T pinion, and 6S battery without losing control.

I checked my center diff. So far so good. No leaking.

EDIT: Gregg, I checked mine, and they're close, but no contact. Looks like you had the B plate in correctly. Have any other pictures?

One other question, how was the cogging/stuttering?

Im gonna snag a 6S and a new B plate while I'm at it. First I need to find out what is causing this. And for me the stock tires didn't last at all. I'd say the centers are pretty much bald. And the knobs aren't far behind.

Ok, I definitely put the front end together at 3 am. Missing 3 screws. The B plate wasn't even screwed down. Lol. Problem solved B plate screws x2 and the front long screw on the top plate. Wow no putting buggies together at 3 am while watching a movie and FaceTiming with your girlfriend.

On a side note the battery charged pretty good.

So what do you think of the charger? I'm surprised that you're underwhelmed by the speed. I was thinking 2200kV on 4S should be decently fast (but I'll admit that I don't know how many teeth are on the stock pinion, so maybe if you try a 21T pinion, it'll be much faster).

The charger is flawless. It's D/C so you need a power supply. But the main reasoning behind that is that you can get way more juice out of a power supply than you can get out of the wall. The wall is limited, but I can charge at 300 watts with the power supply. So I can crank the output up to 20 amps if I need it. I'm in no rush when I'm at home, so I charged it at 5 amps last night. Which for that 5000mah battery is 1c. Charged completely in 16 minutes.

And I drove it on both 15t and 21t. 21 was quite a bit faster. But it still wasn't that impressive. Like I was saying I have the 2x 2S packs for my mini e revo. And on 4S that thing will eat my buggy alive. But it's uncontrollable. My buggy I can go full throttle on and my revo there is no way I can drive it past half throttle.

I was thinking the same thing.

Ran the car on 5S today. Still friggin fast. Although I came blasting out of my across the street neighbor's driveway too fast, understeered right into the curb, flipping the car on its lid, where it slid for a good 10 ft. Scratched up the front shock caps and front shock tower pretty good.

I was also getting some wonky acceleration. I was on the kit tires, and it's cold (37F), so I'm thinking maybe it was a traction thing. Anyway, the car would get seriously squirrely. I need to look it over to make sure all is well. I'm running 5/5/5, but I was thinking I might try some combination of 7k weight. Maybe 5/7/5, or whatever. I'll check to see if I have any leaking too.

Kiddo is learning a lesson about driving his mini Revo and not paying attention. He hit a curb pretty good and bent a driveshaft. It has the CVDs, so spare driveshafts aren't readily available at the LHS. I'm going to have to order them, which is no big deal, but he's going to have to wait until I can order some other stuff so we can do one big order (maybe it's a good excuse for that Hyperion charger...).

I did get a set of AKA tires awhile back and got around to mounting them last night. I can definitely tell the difference between Pro-Line and AKA. The AKA tires fit much tighter on the wheels and the foams seem to fit better too. You have to really work to get the AKA tires on the wheels! Of course, even though I was very careful to get the tire situated on the wheel correctly, I still managed to get some tire wobble. I used AKA glue, which is SUPER strong stuff, but none of the CA removers work on it. I've tried the private label LHS stuff and JET CA remover. I even tested it on other tires from my RC10B4 and the CA remover completely dissolves the CA I used, but it won't even touch the AKA glue!! Unfortunately, I used the AKA stuff to glue my antenna cap on, and that's what has my antenna stuck in the tube. I need to find something that dissolves AKA tire glue.

BTW, why do people boil tires and whatnot to get the tires off of used wheels? Why not just CA remover?
