Oh! And drive smooth. Driving smooth doubles runtimes in 8scale

Finally got the kit built. It took a lot longer than I thought it would, but it was well worth it. The weather was really bad earlier today, but the driveway was just a tad damp, not wet, so I took it out for its first drive. Even putting around the drive way I can tell this is going to be one fun car. The Savox servo is a bit noisy, but it's FAST. The 5S and 6S Zippy LiPos fit just fine, but the battery wiring is a bit awkward. I might have to shorten the wires on the MMM a bit to keep them away from the spur gear. I did have to shorten the motor wires quite a bit, and I could stand to shorten the white wire a tad more.

The Grid RC mount is super trick. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an aftermarket motor mount. There's tons of room between the motor and the chassis now.

Good to hear about the Zippy's. What MAH and C rating are they?

Both the 5S and 6S batteries are 40C and 3000mAh.

Here are a few pictures (street tires to run out in front of the house, stock tires will go on when we get a chance to go to the park).

Check out the space under the motor with the Grid mount!

Any suggestions on making the battery wiring more tidy? Maybe shorten the wires on the MMM?

That looks awesome. I'm all over that Grid mount. I'm getting one for my truggy. I want one for my buggy also, but I need to fit a 25t pinion.

Also, what tires are those? Let me know how they run once it dries up outside.

That is a pretty slick looking mount. Ive seen one in pics, I dont remember seeing it on a buggy though. Its looking really good. You sure did take your time on this thing, but it came out really good! Nice paintjob too. Or vinyl

It's vinyl. I can't paint to save my life. I hope I can get better, and at least with 1/8 scale bodies, there's a bit more room to work with.

I also checked the center diff, and no leaking. I let is sit overnight, and no weeping either. I overfilled it slightly, as some came out when I assembled the diff, but other than that, it's been bone dry. WooHoo! I highly recommend sanding the diff cup and using Mugen gaskets.

Another interesting note. The kit came with the black o-rings for the diff (the old o-rings), and I bought an RC8 center diff assembly using the PN that AE has on the RC8Be page. It's for the "regular" RC8, as it came with a metal spur, but, get this, it came with the updated o-rings!!

I hope you guys checked your steering EPAs too. I had to dial mine back to 80%, as anything over that was just putting additional strain on the servo and steering assembly. The steering is super quick. Funny how I can turn the RC8 completely around in 2/3 the radius as my son's 1/16 scale Revo!

Gregg, can you post pictures of your battery wiring, and your receiver in the receiver box?

Speaking of bodies, I'm painting mine right now. What a pain!

Also, Billy, what's up with the antenna? You're going to take someone's eye out with that thing! I was at the track yesterday looking at some buggies, they all have the antenna rolled up and shoved in the receiver box. Anyone else doing this?

Hi guys, thought i'd say hello. Decided to get back into RC after years since having owned one (monster beetle/porsche 959) and i've ended up buying an RC8be. Been reading this thread from start to finish a few times to get up to speed with things but still have a couple of questions.

I've basically decided on a Tekin 1900kv/RX8/hotwire/7995TG combo but not too sure where to go with batteries. Initially i thought about a 40c 4s reedy but they're cray expensive. Now thinking along the lines of getting two 2S run one at a time. The 60C's caught my eye as its got a high capacity as well. I live over in the uk but efra reg's won't apply as i'll just be running on a medium sized local tarmac outdoor track and a smaller indoor one along with goofing about where i can. Is there anything i need to know if running a 60C instead of a 40C? And will a 4S need a cap fitted?

Also looking for the clear bushes for the diffs.....
