is this because its new or have i got a dodge carb?

thanks.
Your linkage wasn't pulling it at an angle instead of straight out was it ?
or
When you pull the trigger on your radio can you still pull the slide out another 3mm from full trigger ie; you haven't over extended it at some stage ?
or
The grove in the slide for your idle screw may have a bur on it.

Check these three things

i'll see if i can take it apart and look for any bur's

thanks again flanno, always helpful as usual

Just trying to help bud. If it's getting to you that much maybe you should find another hobby ??
You have obviously made your mind up about this motor, so I would suggest you get rid of it and buy something that works for you, then you can stop trashing a good product on here.
Ever wonder why thousands of other racers world wide have no problems with these motors, and you and a few others you know of do. Do the maths and reflect my friend.
Everyone on here has done their level best to try and help, but your being silly now. I really hope you get it sorted. If you do, drop in and let us know what you discovered.

i can't get a crisp throttle response (low to mid) on my 5port. Paired it up with an 053 pipe, 1.0 clutch spring and an FDR of 13.5-ish. P3 plug.

When I finally get the crisp throttle, it'll lean bog after 2 laps. Richen it up and it felt really 'fat'.

Any help? cheers

Excuse me if this has been stated before, but what clutch are you using? Is it a Fioroni by any chance? Only bog I could never get rid of was when using a Fioroni slider on a .21 engine. Worked decent on my .28's

Default tuning

I have been running Go Engines for over a year now and anybody and everybody that ever see's my engine's run always tells me that my motors are flying. I have NO issues with my carbs. I do think that the motor can be a little harder to tune than some motors but I have learned that you have to make small adjustment on the needles. IF your motor gets out of wack and it is not running right try starting over with the needle setting I always start at flush on bottom and 3 turns out on top. I always tune my bottom first I leave it a little fat then start on my top end. I usually tune my top end by leaning it out till it bogs on the longest straight then back it off a hour or until it stops bogging. My motors run about 250 most of the time. I dont worry about temps as long as i can see smoke I am all good. I have seen guys purchase motors, cant get them to run sell them to another local guy and they ask me to tune it and the motor runs better than ever. I have also seen guys that set there carb up to open all the way wich can cause the engine not to run right sometimes. On any motor you should only let the carb open just pass the restrictor and no further. I do stay on top of my orings in the carb to make sure they are still good and another thing that i think people do way to much of is tearing down there motor or opening it up and cleaning it out all the time. I was talking to Adam Drake about this at the southern Nats and he agreed and he said thats one of the reason all Novi drivers motor are sealed. If I can help anybody please pm me and I wil help anyway I can.

The best pipes that I have found or like are

dynamite 086
Losi Re11

MOTOMAT'

is this "half tank lean" ??
you sound confident in your suggestion, what happens at half tank and how does this defeat that issue ??

At a half of a tank the motor warms up faster. The motors are very cold natured. When you do it at a half of tank or less it gets up to temp faster. I left that out of what i said. I usually run it 2 maybe 3 full laps before i touch a needle because you tune on it to soon and it gets to temp it can lean out.

You tune at half a tank due to the pressure in the tank and how it varies from a full tank to an empty tank. Tuning at 1/2 tank will get you somewhere in between. It'll run alittle rich when at full tank and a little lean when near empty. I don't start tuning until at least the 5 minute mark, no sense in trying to tune a cold engine. The longer you can wait the better but sometimes you know something is off after a minute or 2.
