I do not put anything on mine. Just make sure to shim them to the proper spec and you should be fine.

Thanks Michael,
I installed one on each side of the bearings per the manual and it seems to be spot on.

Got ya. I was wondering about that. I can get right around 15-16 minutes of runtime from the 6S 3000 Pack. It is a WinForce 3000 35c battery.

Most guys run a little black grease on the gears. I don't think you should run them dry.

Greasing your gears will only accellerate wear - the grease traps any dirt and makes a nice gritty paste.

I agree 100% with this post. I have been running my gears dry in my dffs for a little over a year and never had an issue or a failure.

But you have to modify the Rc8be tray.

HK has the 6000mah battery at 170mm +
but I actually got a chance to measure them and found this is not accurate. They are roughly 155mm, a tad to long for our trays.
But dammit I want to run these batteries so a cutting I go....
Tray:

Battery in tray:

Sorry don't know how to attach in those nice little boxes that explode!!!????

These batteries are awesome and they are not the best batteries they have. They have some higher "c" rated (dishcharge rate) batteries

The battery tray will hold a 140mm battery(stock unmodified).

I run the 3s batteries I have a four cell same size (length)
why do you run 3s over 4s?

Thanks to all that responded my question about crown/pinion lubrication.

One more question, should I run 4S or 6S with a Mamba 2200kv ?. There seems to be mixed opinions about this, I will be racing a medium size outdoor track here in SD.

I think most everyone agrees that 4S would be about the most voltage you would want to run racing with 2200kv.

guys the diff cases on the rc8 have a gasket and a metal to metal gear mesh with no grease is asking for problems ... would you run your corvette with no lube in the rear end ??? just some food for thought!

I just completed my RC8Be with a 2200kv and I'll be using a 4S with a 5000 or higher. I talked with the Castle Creations folks and that's what they suggested.

I just spoke with ae and they confirmed that no lubricant is required between crown and pinion gears.

What pinion are you starting with?. I was thinking 17T.
