Default stripping gears

When I ran the mtx4 i had problems at first. The problem with mine was flex between the top deck and the rear bulkhead. I replaced the plastic brace with the ybslow one and after every run or so i checked all the screws on the bottom of the chassis. The problem NEVER came back again.

The one thing I found myself doing was setting the pinion to spur gap before I installed the brace that attaches the bulkhead to the radio plate. I now always install the brace first; then set my pinion to spur gap.

Pass you soon...

dont know for sure but for all the stock cars here in mugenland (all mugen except one nt1)
no flex, gear mesh and no space between the 2speed shoe and the bell make you worry free
from stripping spurs! i also replaced the 2mm set screw from the 2 speed shoes to hpi 2.3mm so to make it harder to become loose after some readjustments to compensate the wear on the shoes!

mtx4 now 4 years old and still kicking!

One thing that I noticed in my stripping issues was that the bearing in the two-speed housing was seizing up on occasions. You need to clean it after a few runs or replace it with a better bearing. I replaced mine with a Avid bearing along with replacing the plastic brace with an aluminum one and the stripping had dramatically decreased (still happens every now and again). I also heard that replacing the plastic upper deck brace by the engine with the aluminum one will definitely help with reducing the flex to the point of stripping gears.

There were people had this great car but had issues so they got different cars & also stripped gears but it wasn't widely publisised but the issue was only for some people not all its just a memory now haven't seen it happening for a while now at pre-worlds I don't think it happened at all actually I did strip 1 at the novarossi race but my top motor mount screw came out & the motor moved S.Fisher would remember that lol

Tick, tick, tick...................

Time is moving oh so slow. Can't wait to get mine when it comes out. Then, I will officially retire the MTX-3 from service just like I did to my MTX-2 when the MTX-4 came out.

Any word out there on what the street price of the new kit is going to be?

A certain amount of logic says pricing around what a new Shepard or Xray sells for, but that could depend on how confidant they are on it being better than either, in which case it's anyones guess.

Nitro cars do seem a hard sell though in recent days, people seem willing to drop a hell of a lot on electric now, but less so for on-road nitro, many places constantly talk about Nitro being less popular now.

Hmmm. I don't know about the NT1; they sell for only about $325 (US) in Honkers, but the kits come with plastic shocks and and that kind of junk, so the hopup that you would reasonably think you would need, could most likely bump the price up quite substantially. I sincerely hope that Mugen won't go down that road; and instead come up with a quality product.

At the other end we have the Kyosho RRR Shimo at about $525; which comes fully hop upped, and I personally would like to see an MTX5 fully equipped with diffs, driveshafts and so on. Mugen could then produce a budget version later when the initial demand has been filled if they wanted to.

The old trusted MTX4 still sells for about $420, and there is still demand for it, so you would think that an MTX5 could hit the market at a little more.

Kindest regards,
Lars.

Everyone has been quiet about this car lately. Has anyone seen or read anything of when Mugen is going to get this car to market?

Any word on a release date on this car yet? The 2010 Worlds is right around the corner and I was wondering how much longer are they going to make the buying public wait?

If there is to be a new sedan from Mugen before the US worlds, logic tells that its staying a bit late...

Tomorow starts one of the worlds biggest toy fairs (in Shizuoka, Japan).

For me: it will be there. But just CAD imagens.

Maybe just some top drivers will have it for the worlds.
