But seriously, i dont know what reasons Mugen need to upgrade a whole car for. Some hop ups (which are already mostly available) would suffice.

I think this car is more than capable of holding its own against anything out there today. NT1's, 720's, G4II's.. bring it all on.. Im sure any good driver with a Mugen could put them in their place and represent !!

Go Mugen !! Best decision ive ever made RC wise..
+1.........

I am going through my fourth MTX4 now and never had any issues with spur gears.
As a matter of fact, I've never seen anybody having that problem.

All I know about it, is what I read here on RC Tech.

I agree completely but there is one problem. The Mugen is about the oldest car out there now. People like new stuff so they will buy something newer instead of an old (but still the best) car likely to be replaced soon. Mugen will have to come out with a car within a year or so just to keep their market share.

Besides, I'm really interested to see what the new guy Robert can come up with. His work with Shepherd is impressive.

This is mainly a 0.8 pitch gear problem that I have had. When I had my MTX-2 with the 1.0 pitch gears, not a problem. The same with my MTX-3 (which I still have as a backup) with the 1.0 pitch gears. However, when I changed the MTX-3 over to the 0.8 pitch gearing, I started having that problem and occasionally have the same stripping issues with my MTX-4.

If they do come with the new car, I will eventually get it. I have been running Mugen since 2001 (MTX-2, MTX-3, MTX-4, MRX-4R, MBX4-XR Works, MBX-5) with good success, so, why change now? Team Magic, Serpent, Kyosho, Associated onroad cars, been there, done that. Each time, got rid of those and went back to the tried and true car that has given me success at club races, regional races, and series races.

I have seen the same amount of 2nd strip in xray and kyosho as mugen..when I go and look at the mugen strip I can always point out why....I have never stripped. The mtx-4 still owns my track

I would tend to agree but TM guys will point out that a couple of them made the main at the worlds, Mugen didn't.

then they better realize cars need engines to run.....the 2 top mugen drivers, one a defending world champ, has TM won any?, was testing a new unreleased engine and sacraficed his chances, the other Mr. Mike S. was unavailable else he would have bumped one of the TM guys from the A

or

Look at two of the top top electric drivers in the world Paul L and Marc R, both run minimal nitro

Paul almost won the worlds with an xray

Marc did nothing in his TM but won the electric worlds.....again.......

Hint: their are rumors of a new 1/8th this year being debuted at the worlds later in the year. if you ask me the sedan will come just before the sedan worlds in 2010. Mugen has an order in which they bring out their new cars. look for the truggy then the 1/8th and then the sedan which is why the sedan usuall looks something like the latest mugen 1/8th. be patient fellas!!!! mugen has never been one to disappoint!!!

/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*The one suggestion that I have made and will stick with is that the new car should remain using existing parts. It killed me making the transition from the 3 to the 4 and I had a few hundred in belts alone. I ended up basicly giving the car away as well as many of the parts just to jump on the MTX4 band wagon. Not really looking forward to a new car just yet I am appreciating the current one so much.

I am not sure about the gear stripping issues either but I am living with them and trying to get around it.

The hint of this new mugen makes me hesitant to buy the current mugen, or the vonerrrblahblah or xray.

Calm down guys,

onroad parts are in scarce supply at Mugen at the moment, because they are producing buggies and truggies like mad.
That's simply where the money is right now.

I noticed that alot of parts for the 4r are back ordered as well. Makes sense that they are working on all 1/8 offroad right now. The mbx6 is dialed. I agree, the mbx6t, mrx5, then mtx5
