1S setups with 2s receiver packs… Bad!

Tekin can clarify, but it seems like the RS only want to see 6v. I have a regulator, but opted not to use it just to save weight. I'm going to put it in now, but I still need to get another.
And now that I think about it, there have been a few people who have mysteriously failing RS's. I can think of at least two in the past weekend. I can't say for sure, but most people are running 2s rx packs. I have been running a booster all carpet season and only ran a RX pack strait to the RS for the first time this last weekend. I guess I got lucky.

If you take the red wire out of the speedo receiver wire you are preventing any electricity from the receiver pack from reaching it.

I'm not clear on this sentence.
I am planning on trying a 1S Lipo system on Wednesday. My intent was to tape the ESC Power Switch in the OFF position and plug a 6 volt 5 cell receiver pack right into the receiver BATT plug.
Will this work OK, or should I be doing something more?
Thanks!

I am currently running the SMC 2s lipo made for 12th scale, with a regulator on my RS PRO. I am having no worries at all with it. working great
Just run a regulator and you will be fine. Just remember to charge the battery

Jim's post clearly says "2S lipo receiver packs" and that is how I understand it.
I have been using the Trinity/Epic Mini LiFE 6.6V 220mah Receiver Pack with the RS ESC in my WGT for 3 months now. No issues; except, I had to replace the Mickey Mouse on/off switch on it.
Leaves me with max power from 1S to the motor.

A quality regulator is going to add like 1 ounce tops & lipos will shave that weight right off. If you only need to run a 10 minute race then drop like a 500mah lipo w/ a regulator & go race. I think what we should see is a 1s w/ a 500mah 2slipo w/ regulator built into the hard case.

We do not really care if it is a booster, regulator or a battery of any type as long as there is not more than 7v.
LiFe is 7.2 fully charged, but drops below 7v quickly with any load and should be fine.
We are on the edge with the 2s lipo it appears because many have worked for some time, but too many are failing. Nobody likes to not finish on a race day regardless of the reason.

No need to use an external booster nor external regulator. Use the ESC's built-in regulator. This setup is the same as using a single 7.4v battery race pack to power everything. Many 12th scale racers have done this mod and have worked flawlessly for many many months. I have been using this mod for over 2 months now and no issues. Modify at your own risk and may/will probably void your Tekin warranty.

I would also like to know Tekin's opinion on this and how is the circuitry working. All I know is that it works and all the fast guys have been doing it for many many months and have no known issues so far.
