I talked to someone who knows Jean Paul personally and he told me that JP wants to retire and was looking for somebody to take over his business, but obviously couldn't find anyone. Therefore he's shutting the place down.

Default Jp fx-03 piston

Can anyone verify that this is a Cnc machine piston? I know it's the same sleeve set as the 321 engine and it comes with microcast piston. I started break in process and it acts like a microcast piston although jp website says it's cnc machined.

Hey guys, I have in front of me what should be two JP FX21 B5N motors

One case says JP FX21, the other case says NOVA S21 Novarossi, both have JP Engines B5 blue head

Can anyone possibly tell me if there is a difference between them?

The one that says JP on the block has a serial number engraved into the side.. not sure if that's JP's s/n or something another modder put

Thank you!!

The B5N is JPs version of a P5. There is a black version and a stock version, but basically, they use P5X cases. The S21 is just the OEM Novarossi case, so it may have been swapped or used at one time. Are the cases black or silver?

Ahhh okay. The cases are both silver, not the black version but I got them both at a good price!

Thanks for answering my question!

Depending on the versions you have, it could have the P5 sleeve or the P5X sleeve. Both should have black coated, lightened cranks with red filler.

So what does JP do to them, aside from the crank? Mod the ports too?

On the Black versions, the crank and sleeves are ported. On the stock, they usually just use a stock sleeve with black coated, lightened cranks, but if you really look into them, sometimes the piston used is certain part that the Nova's don't use, or a case and backplate that also different from the Nova version also.

thank you, I appreciate that. so they mix and match?

i took apart my new (used) b5n and everything says Nova - rod, button, block, etc. my other b5n, nothing on it says Nova, only the carb..

both have black cranks with red putty

that sounds like its possible?

Yes, they are Novas with JP black cranks. The Black versions have tuned cranks and sleeves. Since they are P5 based motors, they could be an assortment of different series of parts in them, from R4 to R7 rods and different sleeve designs, but still 5 ports.

I'm confused. I checked the real head clearance of My JP fx12 To3 (stock). With no shim in it; the real head clearance is .50mm this is more in line with 16%. I thought with 16 % you would add the optional .30mm shim

Hey guys, I got a JP FX-T05 and the red putty has blown up into pieces, got stuck in my transfer ports. Seems that this putty is red RTV? like the Permatex hi-temp Red? I tried refilling the void that JP makes plus the ramp, but I just cant get it smooth. Motor still runs fine, but it just looks ugly. If i thin it down, with Naphtha, or mineral spirits, or w/e, it shrinks a bit. I found this old thread on this putty:
http://www.rctech.net/forum/exclusiv...nk-shafts.html

but whats the secret to making it smooth?
