Monty a friend has a 367 that runs at 295 or so. Flames out on landings of jumps. Not from clutch bell hitting chassis. Mugen aluminum w/1.0 springs. Odonnell fuel. Standard button #6 plug. It's the first time in over 15 years we've seen this with a Nova Rossi. Can you help please ?

i have plugs for sale with engines , just let me know if you need some extras .

i think this engine liked odo97t , 6$ a piece

byrons gen2 race3000 30/11

.28 engines have a 1/3 more cubic displacement , so pipes dont act the same on them .

use a 53 based pipe if you can but whatever you run on it will work .

does the engine idle on bench ?
imo , i can tell you that the 367 engine loves a little higher deck heighth (shim at .90mm) a turbo combustion chamber with a hotter glow plug ( odo77t ) .

i can only make suggestions over the pc , it is very difficult to assess a problem with an engine and diagnose without having the engine in hand .

from what i can gather you have experience in nitro if you have been doing it for 15 yrs. .

there is no problems with the car it is being ran in ? fuel tank , fuel lines , plugged pipe and all the obvious stuff i take it .

when you say it runs at 295* , does that mean it wont run at all at lower temps ? or that is where it makes the power ?

hope this helps ,
monty

just my opinion

Monty we have been racing nitro since 1993. R/C in general since 1988. We thought about adding a shim to raise the deck height. On the box it will quit some times. It's in a 5T that is only one race old. The engine isn't raceable unless it's at around 295. It's only 70 degree's outside. The engine doesn't have a gallon on it yet. To quit and run inconsistent is just driving us nuts. It will fine in the pits. Goto the track and it will quit. The engine has always been pre-heated before being started. His other Nova's have been fine.

It's a standard plug. The turbo button has been out of stock for a long time. The engine has a Nova Rossi #6 in it.

Thanks

i dont really trust an engine enough to race it at a big race until it is at the very least 2 gallons old , released of metal pinch and all the bugs have been worked out of it

1 gallon of running on the novarossi engines is really not enough fuel ran through to start racing it and expect any kind of real power .

friction creates heat , keep running it and keep the temps in 230-240 range and wait for the power to come up and temps to drop . then full race tune

does the engine tune and run consistently ?
if it does not then there is a fuel delivery issue somewhere or an air leak in the equation . probably not the engine . novarossi engines seal up awesome

monty

if you want me to help you out with it you would have to ship it here

Monty yeah it's pretty consistent when it's running. When you say deck height. Are you measuring from the top of the sleeve to the top of piston at TDC ? Then measuring the distance the button goes into the sleeve and subtracting it ? To get the deck height. What should the deck height be with a standard button ?

yes you can measure it that way , i have a gauge that i use that a good friend gave to me .

if you put .85mm or .90mm you will be better off , if you use a turbo comb. chamber such as 28011 or 28022 / 28022/1 i think you will be more pleased with the engine .

finish breaking it in before passing judgement on it though

hope this helps ,
monty

like i said if you want me to play with it , LMK

Monty thanks for the help. Will see what happens. I think the engine is better suited to buggy than truggy. He wouldn't listen to me. Will let you know what happens.

try them both and see which one fits your driving style/track better.........there is no PERFECT combo, its what feels good, thats what Monty taught me anyways

round header on 086 , square header on 053 .

the square header always has a lean bog feel on the 086 pipe . it gets worse as the pipe starts to lose volume from build up
