Monty, I know you're the go to guy when it comes to making Frankenstein Novarossi's. Will a Plus 21-5K p/s work with the Plus 4 crankcase and crankshaft? I'm about to build a S821B sleeve with a Plus 21-5K crankcase and crankshaft engine so I will have a spare sleeve.

no , the old sleeves wont fit in the p4 crankcase . but the 821 p/s set will be badass in that 21-5k block , make sure crank isn't out more than .05mm . 4.95mm

plus 821k (turbo?)

make sure the bearing is good also

So what sleeve would fit the P4 case?

I'll play. You said JP pipes are not that great for nova engines.. I am running a JP-3, unsure which header, looks like a regular round one (just because its what came with it) on a JP 21 B5N motor, it is on a Losi truggy, what do you recommend, and why? what is difference between long/short/square/round headers? exhaust velocity?

Also you suggested 1mm idle opening, is that not too much? I see most manuals list .5mm or so. I do have some idle issues, should I increase it to 1mm?

Thanks

sorry to say but p4 is 19.2mm and most older stuff was 19.5mm
the 4 port design is awesome though

play ???

you can theory all you want , i have done lots of real world testing to come to the conclusions i have spawn .

i believe the square headers work better with torque pipes because they create a better and slower released exhaust gas slowing down the scavaging effect . thats why good runtimes maybe or maybe not

i dont know about a .5mm idle gap seems pretty low to me , no safety factor built in to each their own though , different engines act different also

that engine loves the ofna 086 w/ medium round header like your jp header the dynamite 086hs pipeset also works awesome on that engine . ofna 053 pipeset is another good one

if you want to use novarossi ppipes , the 9886 with 41021 or 41020 depending on how you would like to balance from the bottom to the top . longer header more balance towards the bottom

monty

play????

easy there, its a figure of speech.. you start a thread saying post your questions.. I said I'll play.. nobody is posting any theories, just asking questions

Thanks for answering my questions though

p.s. are you old and grumpy?

He's actually a good guy to talk to. Knows his stuff with the Nova motors for sure. I just bought a P5XS from him and some other stuff and he already shipped it out within a few hours. Can't ask for better service than that.

Monte,

How are you doing? I left you a message earlier today. Had a few questions on a motor. Give me a call tomorrow if you can.

Thanks,

Jon
