Calvin,

Thanks for the information. If I want to put a modern Mini cooper shell on do I have to get the M03L or does it fit the M03M as well?

When i try to find out which kit to buy there are a lot of options. Is this the current offering of the M03L?

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXTRN3&P=7

And this the current offering for the M03M?

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMFV9&P=7

thanks,
k

The latest BMW type Mini will only fit on the M03L. There are only two bodies which fit on the L, the standard BMW shell and the 2006 version. I personally prefer the 2006 as it looks more realistic.

The 2 kits you mentioned are the latest kits yes. So the first one is the one for you to get as it already has the new Mini Cooper body.

If you're still confused about wheelbases, go HERE and scroll to the bottom of the page...

Hello,
After being into r/c for 6+ years, I got a mini for Christmas this year. It has been nothing but joy to run and put together (Except for the ball ends on the steering, which were replaced with RPM ones). The body is in the paint shop as of now and is being painted Sprint White with the rear windows blacked out to look like a delivery van, and some 1/18th bowties and HPI 5 spoke white wheels are on the way to complete the look I'm going for. Just wanted to drop by and say thanks to the guys at www.rc-mini.net and in this thread for the helpful hints as to what to get for it. So far I have installed a full set of Boca Bearings and a Yeah Racing 12T brushless combo is on the way. I'll post pictures tomorrow when the body is fully dried.

k_h_d - If you go to this site http://www.rocousa.com/tamiyasale.htm, they're having a sale and you can get and M03M for about $100 including shipping.

What are some good upgrades for the M03? I have the RTR version and would like to do some upgrades to it. I already added a Tamiya black motor.

Whats the preferred NiMH battery for racing? I assume it an Integy Intellect but which cell? Are the 3600mah cells enough or should I go with larger 4600nimh? Whats the typical run time with the 3600 pack.

um..., I was not but I guess from your post Lipo's are the most used battery then. I will have to check my local race track but one of the guys said he uses Nimh batteries and I assumed they all are.

I was assuming that the Nimh batteries would be cheaper but did not realize that there was an Orion 2400 pack for ~$40. I will probably get some of those instead. Anybody running those?

Not sure if the RTR version comes with full bearing and if it doesn't, bearings are a good upgrade.

Beside the bearings I would also add a set of oil shocks (perferably the TRF shocks for the Chassis), front universal shafts, Ball diff. And a set of good tires depending on the track you are running. If you need the Tamiya parts number PM me and I will let you know.

Thanks. So basically, use some spacers to widen it. Maybe this can be added into rc-mini?
