Go-Tech Engines Thread

My son Kendall placed 3rd in expert buggy at the Rc pro series north race in Evansdale Ia. It was the first time we tried the new 0801 pipe on his 7 port and it was awesome! He was pitting at 8-8 1/2 minutes and even speed V-specs didn't even pull him on the straight.

Grizz is on RCTECH aye!!! Anyway
hi, can any of you compare a Go Tech 21 size engine to a O.S V-spec (standard one) and if the GO TECH is better which one do you recommend? Go techs would be a cheaper option for me so i want to see if anyone can compare it to a v-spec,
Cheers

can wait till then you will notice it pick up and get better the more you run it . ive had people get antsy that the engine wasnt going hard after a litre .. the ones that were patient got a very pleasing surprise once it was run in..
My advise is to be patient and dont lean for max top end till you hit the gallon mark.
Cheers MM

Getting the most out of your engine is up to you to learn how. It takes time but when you see the guys that got it going on you can appreciate the engine at its full potential .

Hey guys,
I got the new generation 7 port go engine and all I can say the motor is given me a hard time keeping its temp. I have been running the motor with 30% sidewinder and a novarossi 7 plug just to keep the motor cool. But for some strange reason the motor will flame out after a few minutes of run time. I also noticed that the motor likes to run kind of hot from strange reason. I would like to know what will be the best plug to run for this motor to maintain a reasonable temperture. I can tune the motor, but the motor can't hold it's tune. This motor is actually not a bad motor at all! I cannot believe all the power this little rice burner has.

I think the deal with cheesecake was that he was
used to running a novarossi 528 before going to the
5 port. If he would have bought a GO .25 motor he
would have been very happy. My PTM GO .25 is ONE
MEAN MO-FO. He would never had complained about
a power issue and been amazed with the run times
this motor gets. If you are power hungry, then get
the GO .25. I'll even bet that it gets twice the run
times of the 528.

Well, i just purchaced a GO 5 Port turdo, i was wondering about the break in procedure, i am getting it on thursday, there is a big local race on saturday, i want to know if the engine could be broke-in, in one to two days and not couse harm to the engine, i plan to use the heat cycle method, im ok with running a little rich on the HSN for most of the day.
Also, will the O.S P3 turdo plug work well in this engine?
thanks

Guys,
I ran my ptm 08 3 port .21 race spec engine sat night at the nitro pit in a series race we had i was very impressed with the way it realed in the v specs and even kept up with some of the novarossi engines out there. Brian i cant say how that thing runs. All i can say is WOW
. Im still runing the 8 mm carp insert and next race i will change to the 6 or 6.5 mm carb insert for fuel mileage, other than that im very happy. Thanks GO engines and Brian @ PTM Will G

I have the same engine with the same problem. My engine was delivered to me in Dec of 07 and I am under the impression that I have the updated carb however I am trying to confirm that. I am using the OS P3 plug. I have tried the regular trouble shooting even changing out my fuel tank but nothing helped. This past weeked I replaced the carb with a Nova carb and it seemed to hold a tune much better but I wasn't able to race it. I won't know for sure if the tuning problem is gone until I get a good 5 -7 minutes out of it. Prior to my switching, the engine would run good for about 3 minutes and then start acting up. Going back on to the track on Wednight for some test and tune so I will be able to see if the engine likes the Nova carb better. I have my fingers crossed.

I got a 5 port a few months ago I was having the same hesitation problem after 3-4 minutes others are having. I even went so far as to keep pitting in a b main when I was up a couple laps and could only get it a little better. I finally put an old vpsec carb on and it ran flawless after only tuning it on the table. Racefactors will replace the lsn if you want. The people at the track were impressed with the power once I changed the carb.

I'm guessing you have the HSN wound in too much and the LSN way too rich. This is why it is flaming out and then running real hot when the tank level drops down some.
Also these Go motors are super tight and will run a little warm when new due to the extreme metal pinch. Just take it easy with a slightly rich top end until 1.5 gallons and then you will be very pleasantly surprised. As Massive said a few threads ago - just be patient and it will be worth the wait

Run an OS P3 plug (the Go's like a hot plug) and tune the HSN Flush and the LSN 2.5 or more in from flush and it should run great.
