I like what you had to say Brian. I know this, the fastest guy in buggy at my local track runs a stock 7 port. This is his 1st Go and he usually buys the $$$ mills and he said he wanted to see what all the hype was about, and he likes it alot. The only time he has trouble winning races is when there are guy with electric conversion buggies. 2 more people went ahead and got Go's and like them so far. Now for me I am new to nitro racing I for my 1st mill usd a cheap one and did well with it. I raced 10th scale electric for awhile now, so I didnt want to break the bank to try something new. I enjoy running my truggy so I went and got myself from my knowlege the best thing going. The older guys at my rack are having trouble with those "high end" mills. I said all that to say dont judge what you never owned. I could have bought a V-spec for what I put into my go, but I didnt want a V-spec.

I went with the Go Tech because I like to support smaller companies and I like when other racers ask what I'm running and to see the look on their face when they hear how much the engine cost. I love my Go Tech engines but the carbs seems to be the weak link with these engines. When it holds a tune, it runs awesome. These engines were branded as Italian quality and performance but at a fraction of the cost. To spend an additional $60.00 to $80.00 for an OS carb doesn't make any sense if they are trying to market to and keep the average racer in mind. I have been considering purchasing carbs from different manufacturers to see if that helps my tuning and carb issues. Spending the extra $80.00 would put this engine in the $300.00 range and I probably could have gotten a RB for that price.

I can respect everyones opinions on the different brands, completly. we are all grown men here most of us anyway and some up and coming teens i'm sure. everybody has what they like and what suits them. i think the os, rb nr are all good engines, but the truth of the matter is they have all had there issues, every one who has been running nitro for a while know's what they are for each brand, and yes they seem to have there perticular flaws, and the GO engine has had a carb flaw, and from what i am running i couldn't be more happy. Yes there are alot of people thhat have used a old NR RB OS carb and it has been a wonderfull engine after that, and they really enjoy the engine, as from day 1 GO has always strived to produce a very good product, and they continue to do the same today. Again, i respect and understand everyones opinions on this, thanks and enjoy yourselfs.

Now I think its known taht Go-Tech has struggled in the past with their carbs. I have my Go-Tech motor and it runs great. Every other Go motor ive seen runs great. The new motors seem to have better carbs. Not saying they do or they dont but it just SEEMS it. As I said before I bought an axial before I bought my Go motor and witht hat Go motor, I am now kicking everyones ass. The only other contenders I have are two electric buggies which in my personality are gay, and another guy who runs the same Go 7port as I do. Him and I are perfectly matched and its always a great race between us.

I've been unable to get my 7port turbo to start. The piston keeps getting stuck at TDC. I've been heating it up with a heat to gun to 220-230 ish, I've charged up my batteries in the starter box, which is an Ofna truggy box. I've loosened the plug a little. I've been blowing the fuel into the carb and have gotten it to fire only once, yet it still got stock a second or two later. I've got two copper and one silver shim installed. Is there anything else I should be trying?

I just put some money out for a 08' 3 port R engine. After reading some of these pages. I'm a little worried about this carb/needle issue.
Was this just on older gen. engines or have they been updated on the 08's? Is there anyway to tell how "fresh" or what gen the engine is?

Every Go motor that I have seen does not last very long, flames, and does not hold a tune. I just got back from rc pro seies race in OK in peeps were having hell with them. I just told them we all went down that road ONCE. The one guy we race with that seemed to get his to work uses a rb carb.
Anyway, two local guys I race with got Go 3 ports also and at todays race they were having low-end bog issues. I asked one of them what there temps were, he said 217.

So instead of fattening the bottom I explained that they had to lean out the top and leave the bottom alone. After that they ran good all day.

What plug are you using? Use a Odonnel 97t or p3, I didn't like any Rb or Nova plugs for break in. This may sound dumb but if it's a new box is it spinning the right way?
