I was finishing breaking in a modded 3 port sport today and tried a Novarossi low speed needle. It definately made it feel better on the bottom and didn't lean bog. Russell told me last time I talked to him he was tring to get Go to change back to the old low speed needle. It looks like it would be pretty easy to just shorten up the needle on the current carb.

ok i was breakin in my 5 port turbo this weekend using the ptm method. i heated the motor, finally got it started( dang these things are tight). but had one problem. i could not keep the temps below 240. the highest it got though was 270. is this normal or what. after i removed the aluminum foil i got it to drop to around 250-255 range. after i idled a tank i put it on the ground and run it with slow and easy rpm climbs to half throttle and it temped in at around 255-260.do i need to richen somewhere or should it be ok. i really dont want to fry this motor. so far i can tell it will be a powerhouse

The first 12 tanks are done with the foil on. You can adjust the LSN a little to keep the temps in range, just leave the HSN flush or 1 hour out from flush to keep things nice and rich. After 12 tanks take the foil off and the temps will drop right down. Now you can lean the LSN quite a bit and maybe take the HSN to flush or an hour below flush and run like this until the pinch has gone (about 1.5 - 2 gal). Now you can race tune from here. Do not try to lean the HSN to get max top end until the pinch has gone. These motors are very tight and you will not get max revs until after the 1.5 - 2 gal mark. Just be patient and it will be worth your while

I'm actually currently using the Dynamite 053 pipe and would also be curious as to whether I should change the header or, alternatively, whether it would be worth upgrading to the new 0801 pipe? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Also, Brian did my 3 port R get to you ok?

No, the 053 is going to help the bottom on that engine, and the top end will scream, but as stated abouve, the 0801 is a monster, and gets nice runtime.
