right now i am using the motor saver filter.

one more thing. How often do you all clean the cluth shoes, bell and the 2 speed housing? the instructions said that after the first tank of fuel to clean any oil or residue to ensure consistent shifting. i havent done it, but it seems to shift fine.
Motor savers are great. Depending on the track conditions (dirt) and how long I run, I will clean them as needed. If dirty I will do after 1 days run. If not maybe after 2 o 3 runs the most.

With the shoes and bell, do you feel the clutch slipping? If not ou do not need to clean it, but I usually do it every 2 runs.

Put it this way, I usually inspect the car after each days run. After a good cleaning, I may just take out the engine and radio tray to see if all is well. If I do not feel anything bad I may just put it back together. Regardless, after the second run, I vertually tear the car apart and redo the whole thing. Clean bearing out and all.

The new chassis I have helped design is 35 grams lighter than the stock AE chassis, and almost twice as strong, ( less flexy). It's also 4mm thick in the middle and tapers to about 1.75mm on outside edges. It's made from T6-7075 Alum. Very sweet!! I will show pics soon, R&D almost complete! I will have chassis's for sale buy maybe July if all goes well!

More of a feel thing to me. I guess one way to exxplain it is you loose that snap exceleration. Haven't had that happen since I clean it pretty ofter. You can scotch guard both the shoes and the bell. As you start doing this, you will notice the shoes wear grooves into the flywheel. If the groves get too large, it will not work anymore. I guess it can be dremeled down, but I usually just get a new one along with the hard springs and shoes. I have this bad habit while bashing, of running too long without properly adjusting the ride height. The body starts scraping, the fly wheel sticks out of the bottom slightly and I tear off the ridges. The car will still start like that though

Just got an O.S. TR installed in the car. Do I want to add thread lock to the screw that holds the clutch bell on? Or is there anywhere else I should add it? I normally do it wherever metal locks into metal, although I found it odd that the NTC3 manual doesn't mention threadlock for the engine mounting screws or anything like that. I remember with the old HPI Nitro car I ran like 3 years ago, we would threadlock stuff everywhere.

Actually, that's the only question I have left. Everything else went together beautifully and is ready to go.
I think you should. Today was the only day that I did not put thread lock on that screw, and guess what? I found my bearings on the floor next to my engine. And I actually ran the car without the bearing for half a tank.
Better have that thread lock on!

That smell is there because the starting wheel is rubbing against the chassis.

The centering problem could be the pot is wearing out.

No it's the servo. The 258 and 358 servos don't center as well as the new 94758's do. The 758 is a digital servo with 115oz of torque and a transit time of .06 The 358 is great for offroad trucks or 1/8th scale buggies but in the precision of a sedan the 758 will perform better and the extra torque of the 358 isn't needed.
