The Ninja Engines are Sweet!
I ran them 90% of last season as well as continued with them
this season with No Thought Of Changing! I made the switch
in early May of last year when I decided to purchase 2 of them.
I ran the remainder of the year:
7 SouthWest Series Races (3 Quals & 45 Minute A-Mains each)
3 RcPro Series Races (4 Quals & 40 Minute A-Mains each)
2 Club Races (3 Quals & 20 Minute A-Mains each)
1 Roar Regional (3 Quals & 45 Minute A-Main)
1 Speedline GP (6 Quals & 1 Hour A-Main)
1 Texas Biggie (6 Quals & 1 Hour A-Main)
1 RcPro Series Nats (4 Quals & 1 Hour A-Main)
I'm sure I had even more tanks run during practice than actual
race mileage!
Never let me down in any of the Mains last season!
As for maintenance.... I changed the Rod, Pin & Clips about
halfway through last season. This past Winter I decided to
change the front & rear bearing's as well as the Rod, Pins and
clips! Not for signs of wear, just because I had so many gallons
of fuel thru the both of them and did not want to take a
chance on pushing them. As they have both been the best
engines I ever owned! It's actually scary, as the rods don't
even seem to show signs of wear after several tanks!
You can't go wrong ... 3 Key elements!
FAST, Make Fuel MILEAGE & EASY on the $$$$'s!
Yep! ...... Both of them .... Still Running Strong!
Take care!

I agree that Nova motors are way over priced. I hope with the Ninja motor, which is great, we start to see a change in the times. Nova gets away with it because they know they have a good product, and bottom line is we all want the fastest motor. Sirio are a tad bit cheaper, but still expensive also. Competition, Competition, Competition. With more and more good motors available for less money, people will buy Nova less and they will lower prices to stay competitive. That is why we as racers have to stay open minded and give things a chance....we created this Nova monster, and only us will be able to tame it. As soon as the Ninja came out people were scared because of the lower price. However, racers are changing their minds after seeing them run. I will admit I was one of those guys. I only tried the motor after someone lent me theirs when I blew up my Nova. That day I placed 4th in the A main, and have purchased 2 Ninjas since. Now if we can only get the price of the plugs one dollar less....You must run Ninja plugs, and they are on the more expensive end of the scale. I guess once more people start buying them, the price may come down.

Bottom line, the engine prices are dropping, and this is the most important......

Looks like the Ninja .12's are starting to hit the US market. Anybody have any experience running them? They look to be decently priced, but my questions is really on reliability, parts support, tech support and tunability, etc?
I'm getting really tired of poor tech support from many of the other motor companies and outrageous pricing on .12's. The nova's have always been fast and parts support is really good but $330 plus for a stock engine??? Ugghhhh!!! If we continue to support such ridiculous pricing there will be fewer and fewer people racing on-road. I'm still amazed at the price diffrences of off-road engines compared to on-road engines. Especially on the .21's.

I can't speak for the rest of the country but the westcoast hobby shops has always supported mugen and I would expect the same thing for the ninja.
You have to remember this engine won the IFMAR worlds and you didn't see the .12 version released right away, that goes to show that Ninja/Mugen wants to release an engine that is top quality which imo it is.
Just look at the Finished product from Packaging to the qaulity or finish of the casing and aluminum head. This engine is quality with out the crazy pricing.

I can appreciate that you are not happy with the pricing strategy of NR in the past, but currently it seems that they are lowering their prices while Ninja is raising them.
When the MR 12 was announced last year a lot of hobby shops over here had them listed for € 220, when a NR .12 was around € 320.
Now, things are looking a bit different. The Ninjas went up to €280
and the Novas down to €290
, so the difference is neglectable.www.mugen-skm.de
Personally I was waiting for the MR12 to become available to try one, but now with the little price difference, I will get the new NR Plus 12 and wait how the Ninjas will perform on the tracks, just because NR is a known factor while Ninja is not.
While all this is happening I think Picco has become the most serious competitor in the .12 field, since they got their conrod issues worked out (took 'em long enough) When it comes to Power / Price ratio, Picco based engines are really hard to beat right now.
