I run a Mamba 25 + Spektrum in a RC18 without problems, better BEC maybe?

While I was running regularly, I was running pan car, 1/12th and sedan (and would trade off the sedan for Nitro) and did not have problems. The only problems I saw were a: not mine (with one exception - and that was a bad ESC) and b: related to low voltage.

That's why I posted what I posted. BTW - this was at SoCal so not some hole-in-the-wall place.

And, still the other option (for 6 cell TC use) is to build a 6 volt regulated output device to power your servo with, and let the BEC power only the reciever and PT (if you have one).

I put one together and have been using it to power my servo, and it has been working flawlessly. And, its 6 volts, so you are not loosing any performance on the servo if you have a lower output voltage bec on your speedo...

I hear Nomadio is going to have a program that lets the Sensor talk to spektrum receivers

LOW / SLOW mode LOW as in they have to go to low power by a FACTOR OF 6, slow because we have to go from 100Hz to 50Hz

DAMN!!!

I was finally able to test out the updated software in my Spektrum receivers last weekend at the TCS in Cinci. I had a brand new receiver in my F201 and it shut down every time I flipped over. I swapped it out for a receiver I had sent in for the update (that had previously shut down), and it didn't shut down all weekend. I had a 2nd updated receiver in another vehicle that had previously shut down and it too worked flawlessly.

Other Spektrum users at the track were having shut down problems, but they hadn't sent their equipment in for the upgrade yet. I strongly encourage it if you've ever had a shutdown problem or run carpet. I sent my new receiver in this week.

Do I have to sent in the receiver only, or with the TX module as well for update?

Hey guys I'm having a problem with my Spektrum DX3 system, when i plug my Novak super sport into the reciever and turn it on the reciever automatically flashes.....but when i plug anything else into the receiver along with the super sport the LED doesnt flash AT ALL....i tried binding the reciever with the ESC plugged in alone and it would NOT bind at all! Does anyone know what the problem could be and how i can fix it?

Thanks

There are two updates posted on the Spektrum website. One is for a short antenna wire problem in the TX modules, and the other is a software update to the receiver. I would recommend you send both if you have experienced any problems. Otherwise if one doesn't fix it you'll find yourself sending the other in as soon as you call them.

I raced with a guy who had a Nomadio last weekend, he was having the same shutdown issues that I had with my spektrum. Every time he rolled or was hit he would lose binding with the car and the car had to be switched on and off again. Although I felt bad for him I was kind of glad my radio wasn't the only one having issues.

I had the same problem until I plugged in a Spektrum capacitator to my receiver. Now I can flip as hard as I want and it doesn't cause the receiver to reset.
However, sometimes when I do hit something hard, the communication between the radio and the car disappears and the wheels keep rolling slowly. Anyone experienced something similar and what did you do?
My receiver is brand new with the upgrade.

New to RC's and just purchased the DX3 radio. Is there a way to speed up the included metal servo using the radio? It seems rather slow (my neighbor says anyways).

Also what is the speed of the included metal servo?

Thanks in advance

The Z590 is rated at 0.15 sec @ 6V, but I'd question those performance numbers. I'd say it's closer to 0.18-0.20s based on what I've seen. It's faster than a standard servo, but it won't compete with the $100 racing high-speed coreless servos out there.

What are you using it in? Have you checked your steering without a servo to ensure there's no binding? Do you have an exponential rate set?

I do not believe the DX3 has a frame rate adustment like the XS3, but I may be wrong. Check out your owner's manual and see if there is a "fast" setting for the frame rate. But even so, that is usually used for the digital servos out there, which the Z590 is not.

Nordheim, it sounds like your receiver is going into failsafe and you had a slight amount of throttle built-in to your failsafe setting. When my receivers went into failsafe from the ESD (racing on carpet), my ESC light stayed on, my PT light stayed on, but I had no steering or throttle response.

I tried the cap and got mixed results on asphalt, but the only thing that fixed my shutdown problems on the carpet track was the software update.
