Oh ok nice to know. I currently use the JR 8450 Digital servo. I will be upgrading to a newer JR 9000S in the future though.

Here is the specs if it makes a differance. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByC...dID=JRPSZ9000S

People have problems for all kinds of reasons...Spektrum operates on the same frequency as CORDLESS phones...never once had one of those drop a call.

I have 6 Spektrum recievers and never had a single problem with one, ever. I used to get "hit" constantly at SoCal...got Spektrum as soon as it came out...no more, not once, not anywhere, not on any car (EVO-III, XXX-4G+, TNX, R40, M04, Mini-T)

Spektrum kicks ass and it makes racing fun again. It seems like all you ever hear in this thread is problems...I think 99.995% of them are either voltage ("POSLRPESCBEC") or operater error.

I just wanted to stick up for a great system.

great question. mine is a little different.

I did the m8 mod from r/c car action. I actually decided not to dremel the radio and only mod the spektrum. worked perfect.

I then looked and said well to make it real trick how about just dye the case like I have done probably 50 times over the past 6 years.

was doing the dye, wife called me in the other room for something I left my post. MISTAKE.

I now have a melted spektrum case. I spent the day remelting it back just to get into the radio for my weekend race. It works perfect, but just a little wavy. But it matches the radio. ha.

My question is can you buy the cases too? Or does anyone have on lying around? Thanks.

Just call them and ask...they have an 800 number right?

What M8 mod did you do?

I think I will wait and see. when they figure a way to stop cell phones from dropping calls I will take another look.

I know, I know, I am a bit conservative in my old age. I still like to roll up my car windows and drive a car with a manual clutch, transmission , pick my own rc frequency and not worry about dropped frequency signals on my rc car at full speed. fail safe or not.

see at the track, I'm the guy with the long antenna. LOL.
I really doubt you have ever had a "dropped" call on a cell phone when your only standing 100 feet away or less from the cell tower..

And I don't ever EVER hear of anyone having a dropped call on their 2.4ghz cordless (home) phones. But there are circumstances that can impede the transmission of the signal, but on a race track, its pretty much line of sight, so that just doesn't happen.

If you find you NEED to use a cap, especially if using a QC, or QC2 speedo, which you probably will, then the 5v regulated device could work even better for you. It ends those annoying "missed" laps.

i have been running Spektrum inside my TC, 1/10 and 1/12 pan cars. Never had any problem of any kind. Before this, the combination of FM 3PK and the Novak brushless kept on glitching at huge track. I just couldnt find any solution until I bought Spektrum set with 2 extra receivers. I am now thinking about buying another Spektrum receiver for my Losi MF2 truck. With 3 cars running with Spektrum system, all that i can say is; Long live Spektrum!

Before I say, it will void the warranty.

removed the antenna from the module and installed it in the antenna hole the original one came out of.

dyed the case black reinstalled the sticker so it looks like it was meant to be. only had do drill small hole for wire to pass through the radio and into the module.

used a cutoff wheel to remove the little piece of module that holds the antenna on. placed a rubber gromit with cap to close hole.

aside from my own mishap with the dye, the radio works and looks great.

After Spektrum had the problems with the batch with the re-reouted antenna wires, whats the news on the Spektrum? has the problem been resolved? I took my spektrum helios kit back to the LHS i bought it from 2 months earlier and got my money back. They said they would probably send back all there stock of spektrum to make sure they wont have a re-occuring problem. Just wondering when i can possibly buy another set, as i do love the spektrum, just hate the receiver switching off!!!

I did the exact same thing with mine.
Re-routed the antenna, dyed the case black & plugged the antenna hole.

Works like a charm and looks like it came like that from the factory (KO-mars)

I called Horizon on this and they said "exactly 3.6 inches measured from the board". I've cut both of mine down and have had no issues with either. On my TC, I routed the wire underneath my servo and it still works great.

I heard a majority of the factory drivers aren't using the spektrum due to the slowed response time. Average racers may not be effected as much but I heard the majority of factory drivers are waiting for a newer version to come out.

Does anyone else have any inside information on if the factory guys are using them or not? IE have you been to a bigger event lately and scoped out the cars?

Also, if buying one of these, how do you make sure to get the most recently produced?

Thanks

My understanding from talking to a couple of sponsored drivers is that they are unable to use it due to their radio sponsors wishes.

From the spektrum website, seems one of the top shoes in 12th scale runs the spektrum, but probably sponsored by them. Ive also heard that the reaction times from the spektrum are slightly slower that say the Helios. and yes there is no way majority of drivers will ever feel the difference lol.

I recieved an email from spektrum, stating "all units shipping now should have a properly routed antenna". My LHS are sending all there current stock of the spektrum back to horizon, and ordering new stock (which im down for 1).
