If I'm not mistaken, I thought they had different part numbers. I also think that if you check the ROAR approved motor list and rotors, the high torque rotor option for the G4R is not listed as an approved option for the G4 motor listing. I have both motors so can check the rotor part numbers later tonight if someone else doesn't chime in sooner.

The rotor in the G4 and G4R have the same part numbers. The part numbers, for both, are shown in the video.

And plans to try the new r1 v30? It’s pending roar approval but they say it meets spec

I apologize. I went back and reviewed the video and my notes. The G4R and G4 have different rotors. The G4r appears to be slightly longer due to the cooling fins. Therefore, I'm not positive it will fit in the G4 can. However, if you have a G4 and you wish to swap out the rotor, I would recommend just getting the G4R motor. It's a lot better motor. More torque and a higher RPM.

Haven't had a chance to run my V30 yet but testing shows it to be slightly faster (+150KV w/comparable timing) with a bit less torque compared to my V21. I have run the V21 and while it's not fast it does have loads of torque and seems to be happy when you gear the snot out of it lol Hoping the V30 will just need to be geared down a tooth, maybe 2 since since it will run a bit warmer with no stator epoxy.

Yea,
The V21 is showing to have more torque. What are you using to put a load on it? I reached out to R1 to see bout getting a discount on their newest motor for testing. They are ignoring me.

I'm using the WMH Load Master

It would be a little hard to come to complete judgment call. The Load Master has a high load when you spin it faster. If you were to regear the V20, to match the RPMs of the V30, the amp draw might be the same as the V30 and offer the same KV. The rotor strength, on both motors, are not that powerful. What voltage were you using on your test? Were you using the Tunalyser?

Right, I'm just looking at similar unloaded KV from motor to motor then comparing the "Power Reference", as close as I can get to having the same load on 2 motors. Yep, using the Tunalyser, forget if the voltage is 7.4 or 7.6 but using a power supply instead of a lipo to power it.

It's 7.4v.

Glad I did, considering your experience with the loose insulation ring - doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

I heard of some issues with them, but I didn't know it was that bad. That's one reason I would really like to get one to test.

I stayed away from R1 for the longest time because the only motor I had from them (13.5 Super Short) had one sensor that was 7 or 8 degrees off. I didn't feel like paying for their "Hand picked stator and aligned sensor board" motor and my sensors were definitely not aligned lol That was in '22, didn't get another til the V30 came out and figured I would roll the dice, the V21 I won in a raffle, thankfully they both turned out well.

Well, Stay tuned!
I just purchased a couple of RED Racing motors to review and test.
