afm, thanks for that write up on the following page. Very informative.

You mentioned that it was OK to run 30% with stock head clearance. I just bought an EVO3 T3 and a gallon of 30%. I was thinking of using Josh's break-in procedure. Do you think I will be OK breaking in with 30% without shimming?

Any help or experience from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

T

Hi,

Does anyone who has an EVO 3 know if the crankshaft is hardened and silicone filled like the WCR?
I'm getting one of these engines soon for a big race.
Thanks

I think it is Peter from looking at the picture on their web site. I am getting one next week too.

Defenetly hardened. Crank is 12 mm with bore 8.6 mm, turbo scoop is pretty small. Lowered cooling head over the case. At list this version we got 2 weeks ago, not sure if this team version or market version.

I saw the exploded view on the website too but I wasn't sure if it was the EVO 3.

Is the crank drilled and filled with silicone?

Looks that way from the exploded view. It does say T3 on top of the picture so I am sure it's for Evo3 and not Evo2.

No, not yet, that pipe is in LA. I will try it when I need to replace my pipe next.

I get my Evo3 in a couple of days. Ended up getting a 3 port per your suggestion. I am going to break it in this weekend and I will let you know how it is.

I need to break-in my EVO3 by this weekend. Does anyone know if I need to shim the head to run 30% or am I better off just using 20%?

I think you can run up to 25-30% without shimming. I didn't shim my WCR running 30% but I blew a few plugs along the way. The engine is ballistic though.

stock shim with the EVO3 best for 20%. 25 to 30%, better add 0.1mm
Use sirio 6 plug. This should give you a good starting point.
