I ran the Caddy body for a while, but started getting traction rolls on an outdoor asphalt track. Changed back to the McAllister Jag and the traction rolls went away. Btw, I'm surprised nobody runs the McAllister Jag anymore, great body, very slippery.

Traction rolls huh? Sounds like I picked the right body then. I've been struggling to get traction at my local asphalt track. My setup and driving skills have improved recently and it's showing in my lap times. I just hope I don't crash it at the state race next weekend.

A great kit to look at is the 3Racing Cero series. We have a couple guys at the track running the Ultra and they are very competitive. Great value for that kit, seems to be tough to find now though.
I also run an XPRESS XQ2S, and I sadly would not recommend that kit unless you are prepared to spend quite a bit on upgrades, which I did but wasn't expecting to have to do as much as I did. For the money I spent on that car I could have just started with a better platform from the jump and saved the time.
Second for XRAY here, you can't go wrong but the kits are on the higher end of the price spectrum so just be prepared for that.

Agreed, and the sport kits have a lot of flex that provide excellent grip and make them relatively easy to drive.
I picked up a Cero Ultra for asphalt and am beyond impressed. Definitely worth looking into at half the price of Xray/ Mugen

So!
We now have three people running the Venturi body. We're all finding the same thing - the body produces a tremendous amount of front end grip. Some of us were actually traction rolling with it on the black CRC carpet, because we're used to the older bodies that allow us to scrub a bit of speed off before high speed turns.
I'm the only one crazy enough to run it without the rear wing on our track, and it's paying off. The rear kickup is just enough of a spoiler to keep the back end from stepping out.
I can see at least half the field running Venturi bodies before too long.

Can someone please refresh my memory of all the different official USGT tires that have been used over the years? I remember the HPI X-Pattern tires.

Only one official tire, the Gravity rc tire, belted and non belted. Gravity also premounted tires on the black and white mesh wheels. Previously, it was any treaded tire 24-26mm. X patterns were popular, though not mandated.
