Ive never seen batteries that swell up so consistently. I have 4 of their Blue True Spec Shorty packs and they all are swollen. They've never been discharged past storage voltage in a race, Never overheated and never charged higher than 9 amps. I guess you get what you pay for.

Mine just took a dump too, as in swole up! Pretty P/O. Never overcharged, always balanced, and seems all did it around the same time, my 2S shorties and my 2 4S packs. Shame really... I was all for SMC batteries, but i have old generic Chinese packs that are 2 years older and are still in great shape...

All batteries have been stored right, even inside my firesafe locker in a climate controlled room, makes no sense, guess ill be looking elsewhere now.

How bad is the puff? I know smc packs are very tightly packed so any slight puff which is normal shows very quickly.

This is a common problem to any high mAh hard pack.

That's almost what I saw on my short course batteries when I raced. If you don't feel comfortable email Danny about it.

not sure whats happening to you guys, and I don't plan to guess, I did however read a nice article on Danny's page, about usage, LIFE of a race pack, Anything with RACE attached to it, means tweaked out to give you the most,
but like life everything is balance, comes at a cost, I have trinity "the Brick" packs, I BARELY ran, puff up, stored right/Hyperioin charger etc...
sux Man, I been there as well, but I'm getting his 4c race packs, or I'm staring down a $150 PER LIPO, Reedy Zapper pack, ONE 2 for 1, all day...one goes, no biggie, a 150$ pack goes prematurely, hmmm

Gonna try his 1900kv motor also, nice and cheap to bang on in practice....theres pro's to this...jus saying,, and IM NOT AFFILIATED anyway, I talked to him, the reason your paying less, ISN'T a cheaper, lipo, its , if you notice, He cut out the MIDDLE man,
aka, NO STORES CARRY HIS CELLS...unless, there doing a solid for there customers/or track, I cant say none, as I don't know for sure, I just cant see why a business would take on a product,w/no profit, and deal w/warranty issues..thats all I'm saying.

and sells them at these prices...SMC cells always been quality, for me anyway.... I read up top, never charged past 9 amps, your running 9000mah cells?

Again, I'm a student at best, but I thought 1amp per 1000 mah? 5000mah charge@5 amps?
I Rather charge slow and steady, and have a capable charger, if your using a power supply is it delivery proper amps for your charger? Just trying to help, as . Frankly, I don't want this to happen to me....
I would contact him, my experience, open forums, aren't going to help your situation, always deal w/company off line, Im building a Harley, and had my Engine Builder, LIE thru his teeth on a forum,

So I drove 6 hours to upstate NY to "sort" it out with him...now he looks like the fool..

soooo I was looking at getting a 4s 7400mah battery from them for my eBuggy. I know this particular battery was on pre-order since its new to the lineup. Think it would still have issues? I really had my mind set on getting SMC but Im scared now looking at these most recent posts. :-/

I wouldn't worry about it, if you have any problems email Danny. Hes supper quick about responding and very helpful.

All lipo packs swell during normal usage, its just how the chemical reaction works within the pack. With most packs you dont see this because a little bit of extra space is built into the hard pack, well with smc packs that space isnt there. So you see this slight swelling from normal usage. Every smc pack I had would wobble just a little bit when placed on a flat surface.

side note: 7400MAH 4s packs are going to be very dense in the hard case. So you will see some swelling. If that pack is the same size as my 6s, then its about the size of a small brick.

Thanks for the boost of confidence. Yes, the 5400mah and 7400mah are the same size. 5.47 x 1.89 x 1.89.

Yes, it may be overkill but wouldn't mind getting some extra run time on practice days lol. I will be using their 5400mah pack for race days.
