Diff oil question- right now I'm running the stock 10f/200c/10r setup. It's ok, but I'd like a little more turn-in and a little more stability on throttle. Can I expect a move in this direction by going to 7f/200c/5r?

Making that change would improve your turn in but depends what you mean by stability. If I go less than 10k on astro/carpet the car becomes faster but less predictable in throttle.

You’ll be fine as you learn...you can always add it later if you feel it’s holding you back.

The gear diff actually has more give than the slipper.

What about the dogbones? Must they be replaced?

When you switch from slipper to diff...yes

hey guys just got a preowned b64 running on carpet first 4wd race buggy usually run b6’s. Question is when I go around corners and if I left off gas buggy slows right down and cut wheels and manually turns seems something is binding in the front end. There is no drag brake set seems maybe diff any thoughts thanks

It will definitely turn in more aggressively, I ran 7/200/5 for quite a while but have been running 10/200/7 lately because I felt like the thinner setup didn’t have as much steering on power as I wanted (Kids table landing into the straight on the current Trackside layout).

More toe out in the front, lighter sway bar in front, or a little more camber on the front will also give you more turn-in, but all of these will make the car a little twitchier.

Just bought a used one and will start setting it up soon. Has a 5.5 and I hope that is not too much motor? I may use a 7.5 until I get used to it.

I'm probably getting a new b6 or a b64d this week. Can't really decide which one. Running on carpet during the winter, astro turf in summer.
Is the b64d with center gear diff undriveable on carpet? Is it a bad idea? Do I need to get the slipper diff asap?
Doesn't the other carpet-4wds have gear diff(eb410 for example)?

Tried that but I think I might have found something. It might be a diff issue cause if you turn the front wheels with the car off the ground it doesn’t feel smooth

Check the front bearings for the crush washers. I took mine out and could feel one side binding before I even ran the car. Didnt think it was from that and after 2 runs I blew out a front bearing. Crush rings in and smooth again.
