They're lighter arms with that's about it. However they only have one hole for droop screws, where are the ones on TT02S have too.. (because they are reversible). The 418/419 only has one, which is on the opposite side for the TT02S. So if you are running the optional droop tabs, you would need to drill new holes.

Yes, I tried it on the standard tub S. I couldn't tell any real difference, if anything it wasn't as "soft" but that might've been me imagining it. No lap time difference. Didn't try it with the carbon reinforced tub though, I suspect that might bring a more noticeable difference.

I'm considering buying the TT-02R. That seems to be the best kit for a parking lot basher like myself.

I like to install hard to reach upgrades, such as motor plates, during builds. Is there anything not included in the TT-02R kit that I should purchase for my build?

Steering Hopups Tamiya #54752 (rcmart has them) and some clamp type 12mm wheel hexes whatever width suits your body choice. A 10.5t motor works pretty good with the stock gearing.

Not that any of these parts are difficult to install once the car is assembled but I would go with the YR motor mount (gives a lot more flexibility in gearing), I used the YR 2* rear hubs, Tamiya Metal SUS balls (54559), and a threaded tie rod kit. At some point I will get aluminum steering arms.

This was on a plain Jane TT02 so I am not sure if any of these parts are included in the "R" version.

My car now has 50, or so, full runs and it has not really missed a beat with the exception of some self induced damage....Totally happy with my decision to go with the TT02.

Cheers,
Jim

Something a bit different..

Before the knife came out..TT02R with a few mods

Optional hard white chassis...with the TT02R parts and red motor, it's quite patriotic lol

Front done. Carbon towers added while it was apart. Already had the steering and knuckle upgrades.

Rear assembly. Another carbon tower, and Yeah Racing uppers. Far better quality than the GPM parts I had on.

Chassis complete with a few other white parts trees...Love the white!! Didn't think I would, but I think it came out cool. Body is white, so it all fits.

For the life of me, the ESC does not work with the BL motor. In BL mode, everything hooked up correctly, and it just flashes red/green. Tried several sensor cables, a different motor, even another ESC and nada. No idea what else can be wrong.

The esc is in brushed mode from factory. You need to change it to brushless. The instruction manual is written in ancient hieroglyphics, so good luck understanding it.

You can call Tamusa and they could assist you

Thanks Raman, it is in BL mode. Well, set to it anyway...I decoded the manual and it's flashing orange like it should (Green is brushed IIRC).

Do you have the sensor cable in? It will only work with the sensored motor etc installed in brushless mode.

Yessir, tried 3 of them, and 2 motors (13.5, 17.5). It's got to be a programming issue of some kind. Only thing I can think of to try is to program it with the motor completely disconnected - they were already all soldered up when I tried before.

EDIT - that did the trick for whatever reason. Programmed it without the motor connected, soldered it back together and now works like a champ.

Switching between brushed and brushless modes is a headache on the tble02s but if you keep trying you eventually get it lol.

Just finished building a TT02 Type S. Very happy with Tamiya's choice of hop ups for this kit

What are the hop ups you're using for the Type S?

I was referring to all the 'type S' parts that it comes with as hop ups haha. I feel like Tamiya has pieced this tt02 kit together very well, the 3 degrees of toe in the rear in particular makes a huge difference in handling.

I do plan on adding low friction step screws for the steering once they arrive.
