Tamiya TT02 Thread

How can I get it to run the standard silver can motor? I swapped out the Tamiya ESC with an old LRP ESC but it has a known fault which doesn't allow you to accelerate at full power straight away. So I either have to go back to the Tamiya and work out how to make it work, or buy a brushless sensored motor or another brushed sensorless ESC.
Here is the product information page that has a link to the manual and a video showing how to set it up:

I am honestly not sure. There should have been a manual in the box just for the ESC. I've never ran that ESC with either motor.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm leaning towards the R for what I want to do. Some parking lot fun and maybe some drift tires. I'll have some 3300 brushless set ups from the new SC10.3 rtr I'll likely be dropping in.

They're lighter arms with that's about it. However they only have one hole for droop screws, where are the ones on TT02S have too.. (because they are reversible). The 418/419 only has one, which is on the opposite side for the TT02S. So if you are running the optional droop tabs, you would need to drill new holes.

Yes, I tried it on the standard tub S. I couldn't tell any real difference, if anything it wasn't as "soft" but that might've been me imagining it. No lap time difference. Didn't try it with the carbon reinforced tub though, I suspect that might bring a more noticeable difference.

I'm considering buying the TT-02R. That seems to be the best kit for a parking lot basher like myself.
I like to install hard to reach upgrades, such as motor plates, during builds. Is there anything not included in the TT-02R kit that I should purchase for my build?

This was on a plain Jane TT02 so I am not sure if any of these parts are included in the "R" version.
My car now has 50, or so, full runs and it has not really missed a beat with the exception of some self induced damage....Totally happy with my decision to go with the TT02.
Cheers,
Jim

Something a bit different..
Before the knife came out..TT02R with a few mods

Optional hard white chassis...with the TT02R parts and red motor, it's quite patriotic lol

Front done. Carbon towers added while it was apart. Already had the steering and knuckle upgrades.

Rear assembly. Another carbon tower, and Yeah Racing uppers. Far better quality than the GPM parts I had on.
Chassis complete with a few other white parts trees...Love the white!! Didn't think I would, but I think it came out cool. Body is white, so it all fits.

For the life of me, the ESC does not work with the BL motor. In BL mode, everything hooked up correctly, and it just flashes red/green. Tried several sensor cables, a different motor, even another ESC and nada. No idea what else can be wrong.

The esc is in brushed mode from factory. You need to change it to brushless. The instruction manual is written in ancient hieroglyphics, so good luck understanding it.
