Hi guys im new to 1/12 and have my first meeting on friday. Back into RC after a very long break. I have a question about securing the 1s lipo on the chassis... Do you wrap the battery tape round once and have flaps, or round multiple times?

I have tried the flap method and pulled tight and the battery seems fairly secure but there is a bit of play... Doesn't remind me of the old battery straps i used to race with TC.

Typically I wrap the battery once and have the ends come together on top in the middle. You can put a very thin piece of double sided tape on the chassis and the will hold it in place and keep it from moving. If you go back a few pages we actually discussed how to keep the battery from moving.

Hey, ya'll. I just want to confirm that these CRC foam doughnuts listed below are the same ones being used by most of you.

Front "Blue" CRC2353 seems to be the standard choice for most. Any other suggestions?

Rear "Gray" CRC2395
Rear "Green" CRC2355

I'm currently running 2xPink and Pink rear and works really well. Just looking for some other options for fine tuning.

- How many of you sauce your rear tires and place them in an shock air remover?

They do this all the time in Japan. I'm just wondering if the same is done elsewhere.

Yeah, they do this all the time. They sauce the tires and then place them into a shock air remover. Pump the air out and watch the traction compound absorb into the foam. What ever air that might be in the foam is drawn out and replaced with traction compound.

Super fast, and works like a treat.

I think I just found a reason to buy a shock air pump remover and try this.

Here are some pictures of them in action... Don't get too excited I'm not to sure what brand this one is.
That said, there are various shapes and sizes available in Japan, because air removers are commonly used in the kitchen.

I'll show you another trick to remove the traction compound from tires without getting your hands dirty. Neat little trick I learned last weekend.

Simple and effective

Lots of us were doing it at Minnregg at the worlds due to the low grip.

Seem to recall they were doing it at the last worlds when it was run on asphalt as well (2010?)

I'm sure others have done it before that as well.

But if you have resonable grip, surely you wouldn't need it. Unless you've chosen the wrong tyre compound
