My ride height is changing drastically between runs. I set it go run then come back and its lower by 2-4 mm. So I have to crank down on the preload nuts. Is this a sign of a leaking shock? The rear ride height is never constant from run to run.... Always changing.

How much rebound did you build into the shocks? 100% rebound can affect
ride height.

0-10% rebound, its almost impossible to get rebound in these shocks for me when I build them.

I am going to assume you have enough run time on it for the springs to take a
set. There must be something binding.

Is the buggy really new? Sometimes springs settle a little... plus if you are running the vented shocks there will be a small deviation. Also keep in mind heat levels, this can change the ride pressure in the shock.

Yea i agree on the binding issue... if its changes inconsistently you may have a bent hinge pin or shock shaft etc

How did the shock cartridges feel? I know they can be a little tight if you dont
trim all the excess tree material off.

buggy is not new, springs and buggy have about 2-3 gallons on it(wear is fantastic I might add). I am going to break it down this week and check everything. Shocks were smooth as I had just rebuilt them last week before racing this weekend. If I set the ride height and drop it 1000 times, its good. Its just after I put the car on the track then check it again before my next run. I'll get it figured out, just wanted to know if anyone else was seeing similar things.

Well quick run down for this weekend at the JBRL Round 4 at Heritage Raceway in Chula Vista, CA.

NB-48 -

Tried my local track setup on the buggy, it wasn't bad, but could be better. Talked to Matt and Daniel and decided on the newest setup posted on the site. Only difference was the shocks as I didn't have the 6x1.5 pistons so ran stock.

The Setup was good, but needed a bit more with the stock pistons. Ended up going 32.5F / 27.5R and it was really hooked. I also think 1 step harder springs would've been better also. First round of qualifying went bad as I had a flameout early on, not sure what happened as the engine ran great for the next heat. But flamed out again at the start of the main I think I know what is causing the issue but I will have to investigate more. Second heat was good, and was on a TQ pace until a crash on the back straight cost me 10+ seconds as the Marshall couldn't get to me with the cars coming down the straight. Still squeaked into the A Main, the top 10 only separated by about 20 seconds. Main started well, but about 2 mins in a car was upside down in the back straight and I smacked it head on at full tilt... I knew I broke something, but the buggy kept driving and I didn't want to stop as I was still making up positions... After another 4-5 minutes she succumbed to her wounds and that was the end of it...(Broken shock, lost side guard, and pipe eventually ripped off) Overall very happy with this buggy and seeing as this was the maiden race, things should only get better.

Thanks to Daniel and Matt for all the help. The LRC mount is great and the effects were very noticeable. If you ever get a chance to race with these guys, do it. Great team till Proline next round

Sounds like a binding issue. Make sure the arms are free and reamed out properly. A leaky shock won't cause ride height to change as only the spring is responsible for lifting the car back up. Rebound plays a minimal role here, but shouldn't be able to affect ride height drastically unless the shock is pressurized somehow.

Anyway, most likely binding somewhere. Hope that helps.

Do anybody know what other brand pistons are a direct fit? I want to try the setup with the 6x1.5 pistons with messing up my 8x1.3's.

Is tekno planning to release 6x1.5 pistons in the future?

Kyosho and Xray both fit. Possibly Mugen and AE.
