Super pissed with Trinity and Tower Hobbies. My D4 had a DOA sensor board. They sent me another which took a week to get. I finally get to test it yesterday, and I put in a high torque certified rotor. Car gets a half lap in, motor makes a loud siren noise and smokes. Tower could care less, and Trinity is blaming bad solder joints even though they haven't seen the motor. So much fun to be out 150 bucks without anyone caring at all.

I have been there before, but with another vendor. The reseller really won't do anything about it as it is a warranty issue.

This was a few years back and although it took a while to get a replacement, Trinity was good at replacing my DOA motor.

I would try talking to them again. Keep in mind that this a new generation motor and Trinity is probably overloaded with warranty request.

I wish I had a point of contact there. The guy I talked to could care less. I am going to have to end up buying a stator over this. It is clearly blown, and they will clearly say I did something wrong. It is very frustrating to be treated like this. A reputable retail store would NEVER wipe their hands with a customer over something purchased in their store that is clearly having problems. More so, a company who has had the same customer call in twice with complaints and not being able to race with a new motor once, should be a little more forgiving. I get that they will get people that try to scam them and get a free motor out of it, but to treat everyone like that is insane.

This motor sucks. Mine just glitches when hooked up to my R10. Tried calling the number for them and no one answers. I'm guessing it's the sensor board. My buggy is fast enough under Reedy power. I just wanted to try a new motor.

There has been an issue with some sensor boards failing. The problem is being handled and im sure if you contact Trinity they will take care of it. Anytime something new comes out there are bugs that need to be worked out. Remember when the Killshot first came out? Once the bugs got worked out the killshot became one of the most popular motors out there. Just be patient.

I really hate to be a negative nelly against trinity. But this happens quite often. IMO that's one of the main reasons why you should go through one of the OEM dealers like Express, Putnum, fantom or EA. Guys that actually go through the motors and make sure everything is good with them. Sensorboards seem to be a big issue with their products.

If I had ran the motor at 70 degrees of timing for 20 minutes, I wouldn't be complaining about a stator failing. Something prematurely failed, hey it happens. I did not get the warm and fuzzy when I called trinity, to the point where I am not going to even bother sending it in. There's no point, why wait 2 weeks just to have them tell me what I already know, "sir the windings are tried, that doesn't look like a warranty issue." Great thanks... At this point I am not even sure I want to buy a new stator to get the motor up and running. Then I'll be 200+ dollars into a motor that has given me zero in return.

They do offer the Certified line of motors which basicly go though the same process the companies mentioned above put there motors through. It's about the same price too.

Thats the problem they don't answer their phone and I'm not going back and forth on emails when a conversation with someone could clear this up in 5 mins. For this I will continue to trash their weak brand and never suggest anyone to spend a dime on anything trinity.

Proudly Reedy powered

I have had just about every brand motor. I have had really good motors and really bad motors from all of them. It's a crapshoot. I'm pretty sure Trinity will take care of you, just mail it to them. When you get it back you will have a nice backup or a motor for another car. I have had my best luck with Trinity products and always had good customer service with them.

We did a track change, 15-16 second laps, real tight, all 180s, accept back straight which is 40 feet, what pinion with a 72 spur, 17.5 turn, stock buggy?

You can probably start around 28/72 depending on how much timing you have on the can.

I think that's really low, I ran a D4 on a similar track last weekend and ran 33/69.
