They split and break on the track.. That being said, I picked up a b44.2 and the cups kit cups have not broken yet. I have some rpm's in my box just in case.

what size tap are you guys using to pre thread the ball cups? Is it 4-40? I thought I remembered seeing that somewhere.

Also what about the shock ends? Is anybody pre-threading those as well?

I don't tap anything. The rpm ends are almost the perfect size for the links and balls. And for the shock eyelets I just put them on fully.

same, I dont tap anything, but I will use chapstick to lube the threads and I will use a 4-40 screw on the shock ends to prep them.

Yep I just thread them on as well. I also drill a hole in the center of the ball cup so I can fit my driver in to unscrew the ball stud without having to remove the rod end first. Keeps them tighter longer.

This but I prefer the Reventon over anything outside my RS Pro ESC's but in the future I will run all Reventon Pro ESC's because not only are they just as good as my RS Pro's but I now get them at cost!!! Whaaaat a Baaaahgenn!

As for the LRP ESC's I have 2 of them and I have to say they give more punch than anything I've ever used. I have the Sphere Comp and the TC Sphere and while both are almost identical, the TC Sphere is easily the most powerful ESC and gives more punch than any ESC I own. It's ridiculous.

I will never buy another Novak product again for reasons I've stated countless times.

One thing to keep in mind is that Hobbywing actually manufactures a few of the "Higher-End" ESC's many people prefer.

Would going to a 1.7 piston on a smooth track give me more traction?

Ok guys, I know this question gets asked a lot! I'm looking for a good setup for my B4.2. I run on a medium size track indoor. The track is hard packed, moist, and smooth. I would consider it to be a medium to high bite track. It has small to medium sized jumps.

I've been on Petitrc and on AE's website looking at setups.

Can someone point me to a good setup for the track conditions I've listed above? I know there's not going to be a "magical" setup that is perfect, but I would like to have a good, solid setup to get me going in the right direction.

I did download Ray Munday's setup chart from Petitrc. Would that be a good setup to use or reference?

I would really appreciate any help or input. My B4.2 is about 98% complete, so I would like to get a good setup on it and head to the track!!

Thanks!

I race in Michigan at Washtenaw. Most people I know are running the kit springs and pistons and only a few tweeks of the kit settings and it performs well. Which track are you racing mainly?

I race at BFG in Grandville, Michigan.

From what I've been reading, a lot of people like the stock setup. I guess I'm looking for which tweaks people are doing to the stock setup.

BFG?!!?

Replace the bolded parts with small, bumpy, medium traction, 3 very small jumps.

Just trying to help. I will be running my 4.2 out there on Friday. I've never driven a buggy so I am a bit nervous. I am going with a mostly stock setup with really light oils and springs. We will see what happens!!!

The main things I changed in my B4.2 for the medium traction tracks in Michigan were the inner ball stud washers. The kit has .060" in front and none in the rear. I shifted the washers from the front to the rear and it both tamed steering and increase rear traction. I would also stay with a shorter rear camber link so that your camber gain is increased. I used the B hole.

Weight balance is also important. My B4.2 is 34/66% front/rear weight balance at 1538gms. I would like to get this to 35/65 maybe to see if I get a good balance of rear traction and corner speed.

What front/rear bias is everyone using for medium grip tracks?
