LOL. Guess you could have Randy Pike lookup my name for the warranties. At that point you could then eat your words. Oh and congrats on the 5th and 1st place.
Jamie James, I heard how you drive and you should take up needlepoint.

Unfortunately he is not trolling. I race with him as well. Over the last 3 weeks I have seen 4 of the gen 2 rx8's fry. Two of them not being Mullet1s. I don't feel he is responsible for any of the issues, he has the hobby shop install, solder and setup the esc.
I once tried running the novak active8 ESC and had 3 stop working on me the first day out on the track and it was clearly not my fault. I have never had such bad luck with any speed control in my life. Is it possible there is a durability issue with the gen 2 or maybe a bad batch of them, I think so. If some of you guys want to think he is making stuff up you are wrong....

It would seem that you are doing something wrong or over looking something. I understand components fail ( I have seen ESCs go up in smoke from all different manufacturers) , but to have the failure rate you are having is unheard of.
I still doubt the blame can be placed solely on the components. Something else is going on.

I guess I have the worst luck with these ESC's. Got one back from Tekin where they replaced the wires on mine. Ran a battery thru it with no issues. Put a second battery later in the day for the first qualifier and hit it down the straight and it just completely shut off and went full speed into a wall.
Also a buddy of mine had 2 of them do full meltdowns in his truggy and buggy. Also a motor fried.
Wire them up properly, hotwire them with proper settings, put batteries in them and use them. Me and these other people shouldn't have these issues.

If the hobby shop is installing them and they're failing I'd stop letting them do it. There's a pattern here and we need to sort it out.
Please contact me at [email protected] and go over each failure with as much detail and info as you can. I'll personally help sort out what's going on here.

Hey! How are things?
Really? Must of been talking to someone that is not up to date. Well too bad the enduro results don't show lap times. I was holding my own. But, this is not about driver skill.

If these people are legit, then I apologize for suggesting you were making it up/trolling. I just hate when a fan of another companies gear goes into the thread of a different company and talks shit.

I have 20+ cars and all of them run Tekin esc's and motors. I'm very loyal.
I truly hope there is another issue and quite frankly the last thing it could be is gearing. Randy suggested a higher gear ratio on my Durango truggy so I'm testing that. The buddy of mine that had 2 esc's fry (2 different cars)in the same day is using a lower (smaller pinion) on his identical durango truggy so maybe that's it but I would think others would have the same issue as I doubt every one is geared perfectly. My buddy has had 2 esc's do the major meltdowns on his truggy and I have had one major meltdown and 1 other failure.
If this is the case we're missing something in your car/setup that isn't "in your face" apparently wrong.

My soldering skills are poor (just haven't learned the process well) so I don't even want to try soldering these things up as that would just add another area where there could be a problem.

I'll email you sooner or later on these, let's hope it's not gonna happen anymore. You will be getting my recent esc failure in your office later this coming week.

Hi Randy, thanks for the response.
I am definitely hitting the apply settings and waiting for it to confirm. I do this after each change and everything appears to stay while I am in it. I even unplug and go back in to make sure it is saved. I know how it must look but I really have spent a considerable amount of time trying to figure this out.
I now save the setup so I can just load it instead of redoing it every time it does this.
Like I mentioned, I verified my 8ight was on 4s VC and plugged the hotwire in and it said reading settings and it came up as 2s and all of the defaults. i then unplugged the hotwire and checked the esc and sure enough it had reset to 2s.
I cannot really say that I can find the pattern as to when this happens. Is there a sequence I am overlooking like plug the hotwire in first then open up the software vs having it open then plugging the hotwire into the car?

This was shoved back due to waiting for mod approval. I raced Friday and Saturday and thought the issue went away but I hooked back up to my 8 and it reset the battery and other things to default.
I know for a fact that it was on 4s cut out before I hooked up to it. Luckily I had the setup saved so I could just reload it.

If your good with a soldering iron you can probably fix it. But that's usually from having an iron on the post too long and messing up the solder at the base of it or having your wires with too tight of a bend or too short so it doesn't have enough movement for chassis flex. I guess super long wires too with a lot of weight pulling on the posts.
Sooner or later those posts will give you intermittent power and you'll have shut downs.
I had a wobbler a long time ago and sent it back out of warranty and it wasn't too much $.

It doesn't make sense for me to post up for such a small fix, i live in South Africa. it is still under warranty but i was hoping i could fix it.
i had a really bad crash and the battery actually shot out of the car ripping all three battery straps off with it. The wire broke at the post for this crash so i just re-soldered, but i think my battery moved around a few times after that and so it's obviously loosened the posts over a bit of time.
I'm going to get foam spacers for my battery tray so that the battery wont move around anymore but will the post/s break off eventually? I'm scared a post will touch another if it comes completely off and I'm not really in the mood to smoke a 3rd rx8 in 2 months. This particular rx8 i have 10 gauge wire on and i think it could also be a bit heavy on the posts...should i change to 12?
any help/suggestions will be appreciated..

Yeah, I guess that would loosen up the posts too
Only way to know is to pull the case apart and see if it cracked the board or a little solder work could fix it. Maybe Randy or someone will have some info but yeah, having that post come loose could be real bad.
