Randy,
This was shoved back due to waiting for mod approval. I raced Friday and Saturday and thought the issue went away but I hooked back up to my 8 and it reset the battery and other things to default.
I know for a fact that it was on 4s cut out before I hooked up to it. Luckily I had the setup saved so I could just reload it.

It doesn't make sense for me to post up for such a small fix, i live in South Africa. it is still under warranty but i was hoping i could fix it.
i had a really bad crash and the battery actually shot out of the car ripping all three battery straps off with it. The wire broke at the post for this crash so i just re-soldered, but i think my battery moved around a few times after that and so it's obviously loosened the posts over a bit of time.
I'm going to get foam spacers for my battery tray so that the battery wont move around anymore but will the post/s break off eventually? I'm scared a post will touch another if it comes completely off and I'm not really in the mood to smoke a 3rd rx8 in 2 months. This particular rx8 i have 10 gauge wire on and i think it could also be a bit heavy on the posts...should i change to 12?
any help/suggestions will be appreciated..

10 awg wire is overkill for the application. 12 is fine and what we ship the Rx8's with.

i will change back to 12 awg..
ok so does that mean i need to send it in Randy? or have my LHS take a look maybe?
or is there any chance you can explain to me what to check for? i don't mind opening up the esc to have a look and maybe re-solder something but if its more complicated/technical than that i won't touch it. (words like " delaminating" and "yank" don't sound too rookie friendly)

Timing isn't much needed in 1/8. 1/10 different story.

I can tell you however that you will have much better "Gains" by simply gearing up and keeping timing low.
14T is too low, go 15-16.

I asked about a set up sheet for the esc in my Durango SC 4x4 and the one given to me had the esc timing at 75 or 80! Should I follow that setup, or drop it down? It has a Thunder Power 4 turn 550 motor, so there is plenty of speed I am sure without the timing advance. What should I do?

The fan is temp controlled, it comes on for a second then turns off. If your temps get up to where the ESC wants it, it will turn on.
You can change that to always on in the hotwire program.
