SC10 4x4 Thread
Yeah 2 pad is crap 3 is better but still crap go with the c-diff, slippers can't handle the power of 4 wd short course that's why every other brand went away from the slipper.
The RCShox cDiff is what brought me back to my SC10 4x4. I sold my Durango DESC410 and Losi SCTE and my Tekno SCT410 is now my back-up truck. Not saying these are bad trucks, because most of the top brands can win on a particular day. It's just that for me the ultra lite SC10 4x4 handles so well and more importantly it is so much fun to drive.

Shark, your honest reviews of the products you have actually tried would make me pickup the sc10 4x4 if I had the conditions for it where it can benefit.
Unfortunately no indoor carpet running here this winter unless something changes

I've been following this thread for a while now. I always like Associated since the golden tub buggy days. I race now and then at our local track and the 4wd SCT is very very popular, so popular in fact that they have to run two classes. I have an AE ProLite 4x4 but its not a serious race truck its good as a back up truck. I have a love and hate felling about the SC10 4x4. I didn't like the belt drive and the fact that AE stuck the motor in the rear of the chassis with very little air flow. But I actually drove one, a guy let me test his and man this truck was so dialed in that it was ridiculously good on the track. It ran so smooth and balanced on the track and so easy to drive its almost so predictable because you get so comfortable driving this truck. So I broke down and I got one. I will be running a Novak Havoc Pro ESC and a Novak 4.5T 550 motor. I saw that Novak recommends a 12T pinion with this set up. Now my question is what else can I do to the truck to make it better for racing. I will be racing on a fairly technical course. They race 1/8 and 1/5 on this track. Its dirt not clay. What tires would you guys recommend I have some AKA gridiron, cityblocks and Duratrax Lineup, Lockup, and shotgun I had these for 2wd SCT's.

What motor/esc combos everyone running?
I run on medium outdoor clay track with tire of choice being Holeshots.
Like I said earlier, I'm running the Castle SCT system.
What would be the budget slipper setup to use for now? I have about $20 to spend right now. I'm seeing the VTS slipper on Ebay for about $15
What diff fluids are suggested for my setup ? I need to do some maintenance.

I'm running the tenshock sc401 4400kv with a HobbyKing 120 amp esc, 12t pinion and 62t spur. I race on a big 1/8 scale outdoor track w/medium grip. I run holeshots as well. My factory team kit came with the 3 pad slipper, so I don't have any experience with the old diff. I tried the exotek front locker, played with the diff fluids and front clicker, switched between the 19 and 20 tooth pulleys, all of which helped a little bit. About two months ago I had the money so I decided to order the c-diff. Damn. In terms of return on investment, it beats the exotek chassis, saddle pack configuration, and 16mm shocks all day long. If you stick with the pads, I'd try 20k front/7k rear in the diffs. Otherwise, save your money for a few weeks and invest in a c-diff.
My PINK is packN the Reedy 4.5 Sonic , backed up with a Lrp FlOW ESC
Both run cool & smooth ...
Controlling the power with the VTS slipper , well know to be the best performer on the track ...

Using a additional slipper pad for
improved acceleration & traction ...
