not very happy with tekin at the moment...
ordered a gen2 combo and after two battery packs the esc just stop working and went into wrong motor type mode, where the 1st two and last two LEDs were flashing, after a reset the esc smoked, contacted tekin and it should be with them now. This was less than 2 weeks ago

This Friday at a practice for a national event my gen1 goes up in smoke after 3 years of service, i still have no clue how it happened but im beginning to think its cos i set the lipo cutoff above 18.v as i run 6s and tekin say you shouldn't as it may cause unwarranted damage to your esc (which is kind of stupid as 18.v on 6s is 3v per cell, which is the discharging limit on lipo cells). Anyway nobody in town had stock of tekin at such short notice and i had to buy a castle esc (which im surprisingly happy with).

Tekin I'm the one to sing all your praises in my city and i was nothing short of embarrassed this weekend.

considering moving to castle now, and selling the new gen2 they going to send back...

I think he's making sure your not coming from a gen1 and have not updated your hotwire program on your laptop or notebook.

You know what.... This is the exact same story I have with my Gen2.... It didn't hit me until I read this, but this is the exact same thing that happened to me.

I ran it here and there for a couple of times over the course of two or so weeks maybe 2-3 full packs. The day i got the magic pink smoke i was running it up and down the street just fine tuning the steering trim. I turn it off and switch to my Losi with the rx8 gen1 (which is still rock solid for me btw) and play with her for a bit and then switched to the tekno and noticed it wasn't going anywhere.... I saw the led code flashing. Looked it up and found it was the "wrong motor type" led code. Weird. It was running just fine 10 minutes ago. I switch it off and switch it back on again and it turns on just fine with no error code. Sweet she's back. OK maybe it was a glitch. I get a pass or two down the street and as she pulls in I see pink smoke. F*CK!!! i pull one of the battery leads to cut power. Luckily I was running with no body else my truck would have melted I have a hell of a time getting the body clips off in a timely manner.

This esc has not seen a jump, crash, or even dirt. Mounted with Kyosho zeal vibration absoption pad. I took every precaution.

Tekin, do we have a software bug/glitch with the gen2?

wow bud its actually quite shocking how similar your story is to mine.. my esc also never saw a jump, i also pretty much took every precaution.

I Should have fried my ESC with all my failed attempts at soldering.. I probably had my iron on those posts for over three hours trying to get it like the guy on YouTube.. My ESC still works perfect, and even had it re-soldered again this past weekend.. No cut offs, and in comparison to Castle.. SMH... Team Tekin FTW!!!

Don't feel bad.. I had to google it the first time I saw it.. I thought someone was cursing me out.. But it didn't make sense cause it read like a compliment lol!! Either way the Tekin electronics is hands down the top of the top.. But more to a racer question.. Is 150s low for competitive racing.. I'm sure "Pro Drivers" have there stuff running a lot hotter than that.. Am I not pushing it hard enough or is 150s the sweet spot..

My gen2 stopped data logging, then I did a factory reset and that fixed the problem. About two packs later it's back to not logging. The fan port is also spotty at best. The fan cuts in and out randomly, sometimes I finish a heat at 160° sometimes 205° just depends if the fan decided to stop working or not. That means there is also a problem with keeping the hotwire connected through that port. Is there something I can try or is this a send back for warranty deal?

Guys if you're having com problems with the port I'll ask you what type of computer you're using? If it's a laptop or netbook make sure that ONLY the Hotwire is plugged into a USB port, any USB port. Some of the laptops/netbooks don't provide much power via the USB's and if more than one is plugged in at any given time the lack of voltage can cause com issues. Something we saw at the Nats on a guy who had all 4 ports on his laptop "working."

If you had a failure I'd also like to know this info:

Car:
Battery:
Connectors:
Motor:
Gearing:
Settings:

Make sure you're clearing the memory each time. Car powered up, hold the "inc" button down for 4-5 seconds, a light and chime sequence will occur, run the car, download the run.
