Hmmm, i just put all the covers back on too. The dirt at this track is real fine and there is alot of fluff. So i was getting alot of build up on the pulleys running no covers.

20 to 30 degrees would be right on. Then i could run some boost LOL, pass some 1/8ths on the straights LOL.

Maybe i can make some custom lexan front and rear pulley covers, that should be fun.

Think i will still throw a fan on, cut the aft wall out on the left side and let the fan blow right on the motor.

Just remove the spur cover, leave the belt covers on ...

Be surprise how much cooler it will run , you might even be able to gear up .

Specifically indoor clay? Buyers remorse sucks.... My racing buddies are going losi but i cant do that.
Go Tekno. I literally run laps around the SC10 4x4 guys. I spent a year and hundreds of dollars tweaking and tuning my SC 10 trying to keep up the losi's. Tekno just needs an Al horn and Al hex's and it's competitive with any other truck and justs needs to be tuned to your style.

I recently bought a 4700 KV Hobbywing 4 pole, and it rips, love the torque. The Problem is, i am thermalling the motor in about 7 mins. I will admit i gouge on it, love the HP, plus the track is loose.

Dual shorties set up. I am geared 13/62 do you think thats over geared? I did notice the Enduro-2 tires were alot bigger than the Bowfighters, this may be where i am getting the xtra heat.

Also, i had to run with 1/8th Ebiggies, not enough 4x4's, anyway i can get within about .8 to 1 second a lap off Ebuggies better laps. How close generally are 4x4s compared to Ebuggies on a big outdoor track?

I may end up doing some dremel work and installing some fans on the motor side if all else fails, love that HP of the 4700 HB !

Thanks, Krom.
If your running with ebuggies they should let you run with just the under body and not the big bulky shell. That would give you your second back.

Hi Guys, getting some hot temps on motors in my FT Sc104x4.. tried a 550 5.0t 13t pinion on to 62t spur motor was 60~70deg Celsius and batteries getting warm, and a 540 4pole 4800kv at 12t on to 62t spur 80~90deg Celsiu batts warm. Someone told me the 4 pole i had way "under geared" and suggested I go up to 14t to get the heat down.. (does not sound right to me, i'm afraid something is going to melt!) Are there any common things to check in the drive train that might be causing friction etc before I pull down the whole car?

2nd question, changing to soft springs (loose wet track) which would be the best sway bar to drop in front and rear?

Thanks!!

Which track are you running on? i ran a tenshock 550 4600kv with 11t pinion at a medium-small indoor track and that was the best gearing. Up to 12T was okay too, but 13T is definitely too high for a small track.

Lali Warehouse (in Hong Kong) its a largish indoor, suits 1/8th more than 1/8th.

Just backed the tension off on the belt (from factory setting) and it makes the drive train feel much more free.. how tight should these belts be? I have only run about 4 packs in the car so far.

In about two weeks I'll be running on a very, very loose dusty track. Do you have any setup suggestions? Thanks.

if your motor getting hot you want to gear down not up. up will make it get hotter. If you esc is getting hot your under geared. If you motor is getting hot your over geared.

I have been racing at the parking lot races, not the SC10 4x4, at the Hobbytown in St. Charles, IL. Each year in August they hold a dirt race at Elburn Days in Elburn, IL. They build a good sized dirt track after the tractor and truck pulls. It's Sunday, August 18. It's fun and the track get's really loose with a lot of loose dirt. There is great food and they usual have a good turnout. The registration fees are matched by the store owners and donated to the Lion's Club which organizes and hosts Elburn Days. I haven't run my SC10 4x4 much and need help with setup, 4WD vehicles run better on this surface. But, I would like suggestions. Thanks.
