For those that are running an RX8; what kind of settings are you using with the EB48?

I have a T8 2050kv motor and RX8, looking for suggestions on current limit and brake strength in particular.

I run the same motor with my current limiter varying from 70 to 85.

Brake strength can be somewhat personal preference; I personally run 85 brake strength.

I use 10 degrees of timing at most.

couple questions, are people running the SC chassis? and also I heard the buggy is so light that you can run a SC motor in it. what are the pros and cons and what all SC motors work?

I personally would stay away from light weight. But it be very good inside. Seen 2s 550 4300hd setup but still lacks power for outdoor tracks. Need mine 3s imo. Sc chassis on buggy don't think is needed. It was meant to keep the roll center of sc lower.

Light weight setups work great indoors, on small technical tracks, and on high traction smooth tracks no matter the size. The full weight EB48 generally works better on more rough tracks, and can be slightly easier to find traction with on very loose tracks.

I wouldn't run an SC electronics setup unless you go full lightweight with all the SCT410 lightening options as well. 3S SC setups can work, but generally still run fairly hot with the kind of driving we do with eBuggy. If you want to go light, pick up the Tekin T8i motor and a smaller 4s pack. If you absolutely need to be able to share electronics with SC (such as to swap the vehicle back and forth with mounts/hubs on a budget depending on which class you want to race that day), then just make sure you have some really good heat sinks and fans for whatever motor you get, and really good batteries.

The lighter weight SCT410 already HEAVILY stresses 2s batteries/electronics, so I wouldn't recommend going 2s on the buggy. Stick with the slight increase in weight and advantages of higher volts IMO.

Big congrats to Austin Blair and Tekno for taking the belt (1st place) in the 5th Annual NorCal Off Road Championship in both 4WD SC and 8th scale Electric Buggy, and only requiring the first 2 of each triple A main to do it.

I managed to put the EB48 into 3rd on the podium by placing second in all 3 of the mains.

Anyone know the wt. difference between the SCT410 and the EB48 w/o electronics?
I know they make the stub axles to convert 12 to 17mm but can it be done in reverse? w/o swapping outdrives ect?

I don't know if you can find a way to fit the outdrives in or not (haven't tried), but you can't fit SCT wheels over the knuckles/carriers/etc, so you need to get the SCT parts if you want to use SC wheels.

Can you use DE Racing 17hex SC wheels or AE SC8 wheels and file down the hub parts that rub so that there is just enough clearance? You would be a maybe a 1/4 wider in width, but ...

Well there's one upside to the EB48 being out of stock I ordered the Tekin rx8 gen2 and t8 1900kv with it but since they are shipping together... I just got an email saying I am receiving a Tekin Rx8 Gen 2 and the brand new T8 GEN2... That's right t8 gen2... not t8i or the original T8, it's new.

Check it out:http://www.teamtekin.com/t8.html

Nice. I have been eyeballing those T8 gen2 for a little while now. Since we only have a couple of months left for outdoor. I was gonna take my current EB and go super light weight with a t8i or HD for the coming indoor season. Start over right before outdoor with a fresh buggy and that gen 2, BUT who knows. My eyes have been bigger then my wallet more then once

I wish I had an indoor track close by to have that worry haha. I've mainly raced short course and this summer w my SCT410 which inspired me to race Ebuggy and get the EB48 which is taking forever but needless to say my track is a large 1/8th track that's rough so I'm not concerned about losing weight. The best part about the T8 gen2 is I'm not paying extra for it because it was their mistake for letting me order the rx8 gen 2 w t8 gen1 1900kv and then selling them all instead of keeping one for my order. Anyway, really excited to get my EB but every week Tekno tells me "1 more week" so who knows. I love Tekno but don't become like Starbucks in the early 2000s and grow to fast for ur own good and lose focus on your core and what made you successful.... Your current customers.

Waiting has never been a strong point for me but it will be worth it. You will get the latest and greatest. I have a first run that had the soft out drive and the weak ackerman. Don't get me wrong, im gonna pick up another one. At my local Two of us bought first runs, now its seven of us. From worst to first, that gotta say something
