What went up in flames in that one car?

After dong some further investigation, I can see why the stock servo saver doesn't work and a different spring isn't going to fix it. Here are the problems that I can see.

1. The spring has no way to slide on either the tension nut or the lower half of the bell crank. The spring is not providing torsional force. Its only job is to provide compression for the ramped sections of the saver. The spring needs to be able to slide on either the bell crank or the tension nut and it needs to be able to slide freely. Right now it can slide but only with a lot of force. If it does slide one way and then the saver tries to recenter, the spring may be trying to hold it in a non-centered position. I looked at my RC8 and there are washers in there to help the spring slide. Ideally this would be a pressure bearing with washer on either side.

2. The ramp sections in the bell crank are a different shape than all the other cars I own. The other cars use a non-linear shape in their servo savers where the EB-48 has flat angle ramps. The two pieces also don't fit together very well and there is some slop between the upper and lower sections. I know Losi struggled with the same problem and has changed the shape of their servo saver, although their major problem is that their servo saver is still upside down (servo saver action changes the toe-in/toe-out of the front end).

If Tekno fixes these two problems, the servo saver will work much better.

Unless you're running on super high traction tracks, i don't see why the servo saver is an issue. My servo saver is set with 2 mm of space inbetween coils and i never feel like it's hindering my steering.

This guy has every screw you need. Hardened steel. Better than what comes in most kiyts: http://www.4chobbysupply.com/servlet/StoreFront

Tell him what car it is for and he can put a kit together and cost less than everyone else.

That would be my RX8, might be from the impact from shorting the jump a turn before it went up. I lost throttle when it nose dived and went up in smoke.

The same thing happened to me, landed the double kickup a bit hard and ESC went into total failure

Just got my replacement from Tekin, the heatsink is now black instead of red

Which one? I haven't had any back out and I've been running it since the first batch of kits shipped. I'd like to triple check though, to be sure.

add heat shrink on battery wires.

BTW, is tekin's wire 14AWG? it seems much thinner than the 12AWG wire I used for my battery.

This may vary if you are running a high "C" rating on the battery. You need to run a 19T pinion with the current limiter at 85. Timing on the ESC at 10 (which is actually only 3 degrees of timing). Be sure you have a few holes in the body for ventilation on the right front corner.
Also a good idea to adjust the start and end RPM on the esc to 5000 - 30000.

I am running the 19T pinion now with the Speed Passion SA2 and getting even lower temps and efficiency so far. But it is still cool weather here and we'll see how it handles 95 degree summer days.
Thanks for the advice, but doesn't timing going to increase temperature on the motor?
I'm tried 18t and it way 170+F on both ESC and motor, after 8 mins main, on a relatively cool day. Used 17t and it's better, I doubt 19t will work...
and, what's the RPM for?

The wires look like standard 12ga but the insulation is pretty thin
