The O-rings were upgraded to a different, more durable material.
Yes, if the O-rings leak, it would cause an air or fuel leak.

I am a former GO dealer.
I have three of the O-rings in stock.
My website is listed in my signature below.

I just got a go engine from a buddy but half the fins are broken, the head is silver and I have no clue what model it is. Will the g5 head fit? I'd like to use it as a practice motor since it.runs great?

I think the silver one was a 5 port, the gold one was a 7 port, and the old red one was the 3 port.

I think the silver head is the same as the orange GX5R head, except for the color.

All the GO cooling heads that fit the regular head button will fit (excluding the GXII head)..many other brands of cooling heads will also fit.
Sounds like an old motor that's seen plenty of action, I would give it a once over before you run it, check bearings and rod for excessive play.

Thanks guys will look into it. Crank feels food and it has compression, figured I'd run it for practice and if it blows no biggie since it was free.

Are these motors the same as Alpha motors?

Alpha dealers will deny deny deny deny.
But as far as anyone objective/non-partizan can see, these are the same factory. Alpha/PR/Go.
The porting seems way more aggressive on the Alpha line.
So to me it seems like the Go engines tune and run easier, more beginner friendly. I think the Alpha engines have a bit more top end due to the porting.

For all I know they could be made in the same factory as Alpha but... They share no common parts, nothing is even close to the same as an Alpha. Mg66 is very similar to a Go, I hate to use the term made by Go.

I can assure you Go and Alpha are most definitely different factories. The MG66 is made by Go factory to my specifications.

Alpha are very nice engines as well. I have seen them run and man they hike along pretty good.
