Austin Blair is on track now. The timing on Live rc is hit and miss. He looks way off the pace, but I think it may be a timing issue. Almost like it isn't catching every lap. The track is pretty lame IHMO. It looks more like 1/8 on road than off road.

I got my buggy Monday, I've been busy so I didn't get done until today. I weighed it and I was kind of surprised that it weighed 7.13lbs. I thought my setup would have been a bit lighter running a 3s pack.
Castle 2400kv motor 301g
Castel MMP esc 81g
Hitec Servo 61g
Gen Ace 3s 40c 5000mah - 442g

Castle 2400kv motor 301g

Hitec Servo 61g
Gen Ace 3s 40c 5000mah - 442g

and is enough to drive 12 minutes races with my JQ, so less cells doesn't necessarily means lighter car. The ticket would be a very small 6 cells pack with a 4 pole little motor with about 1200kv. Then it would be VERY light, because the system would be way more efficient compared to 3S
As soon as you get low with the voltage you get high with the amps so your system heats up and your runtimes fall so you'll need more capacity (=weight) from your lipos to compensate. That's why I would stick with a 1/8 system on the EB48.
To give you a comparison:
T8 1400kv = 341g
MMP = 81g
Savox 1258TG = 52g
Gens ace 5S 55C 2200mah = 297g
Total = 771g, your system is 885g. So all in all the car would weight less in 5S, and I'm sure the system would be cooler too. And I guarantee you would have enough power in 5S 1400kv
Anyway good build, I hope to see other ones very soon
. I think you're the very first one I see running Jconcepts double cross tires, these are the ones I use for training all the year

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=9512 These are my favorite packs for my d8e, they are low and perfect fit for vorza battery tray so should also be good for eb48. Keeps the center of gravity a bit lower too as they are only 32mm high. it gives about 20-25minutes of runtime with 1800kv leopard

I'm able to do 10 to 12 minutes of racing outdoor depending on the track and way more indoors. I'm sure that with a light car like the EB48 you could achieve even better runtimes.
1700kv in 5S is too much IMO, I would not go over 1550KV. I run a 1400kv 5S system and I'm far from being slow. I'm doing various testings between 1400kv 5S and 6S to determine how I can get both a very lightweight car and low temps.
This said there is no rule, I'm a progressive driver so you'll have to test for your applications

I'm not positive but I think it's a J concepts for the Ve8. I put it on their so I'd have something to cover it while I'm painting the stock body. This body does not fit well at all, it's way too wide. The stock body fits perfect, I normally run velcro on the sides but the stock body fits so good imo velcro won't be needed for me any way.

I put the 2400 3s setup in their just to see what it would be like. You're right about one thing it warms up more than I care for. I think I'm going to look into a lower kv setup. I run a 1600kv setup in my v4 d8t and a 1800kv setup in my v4 d8. Both run cool and have great run time. I'll have to take a closer look at that Tekin 1400. Thanks for the info!!!
, if the rules on your tracks allow it definitely go for a low kv motor. This is the way to go for a light car and a system that stays coolThese are the setups I tried since 2 years: 2200/4S, 2050/4S, 1350/6S, 1400/6S, 4000/2S, 1645/4S, 1400/5S and back to 1400/6S
I asked tekin many times for a 1250kv T8 for 6S application but couldn't get it for me alone
, I even opened a subject on this:http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...an-1400kv.html
@ spunkysandoval: good choice for the little bling, it's needed on the EB48 that looks so..black. Tekno could have made the EB48 a tad sexier

Pulse you said you're using a Gen Ace 5s 55c 2200mah packs, I can't find them. Hobbypartz.com is our main supplier for Gen Ace here and all they have in 2200mah 5s is 25c. Where can I buy the 55c packs?

Notice I can't guarantee how much runtime you'll get depending on your setup/ driving style
