I know my RC8 seems to feel like a tank, but I love it. Even when riding BMX I rode around on a tank.

I'm gonna search the thread, but if you could post the weight again, that would be great. I say again because I feel like I saw it somewhere in here.
Check out the tekno blog, it gives great details about weight.....

Thanks for your time, I am looking forward to having my buggy. Worst case I have two RX8s but they are time bombs waiting to explode (really 3 month life at most, I have had 4 of them now).

You're doing it wrong. Or just been unlucky. I've been running mine for over a year without issue. RC8, RX8, T8 2050, 19T/46T. Fan has turned on maybe once and I can easily hold the motor if it wasn't bolted down.

This should help: http://www.teknorc.com/shop/tkr5000-...ggy-pre-order/
And a direct quote from the link: 7.5lb RTR weight with common electronics and options. Sub-7lb running weight easily achievable

Hello, I have both setups so I can give you a feedback.

JQ/ RX8/ T8 1400/ 5S lipos
DNX408/ MMP/ T8 1400/ 5S lipos

With similar settings on the ESC the RX8 gives more power, definitely. But it runs hotter than the MMP, surprisingly. Running a RX8 instead of a MMP is equivalent from going from a 25C lipo to a 45C. The role of the ESC is often underrated, it's not just a link it really makes a big difference on the track. But all in all the MMP is giving awesome results for the price. More reliable than the RX8 in our case, and I have tried various ESC.

Nobody answered me when I asked when the EB48 will come out. If someone has the info.. Many guys would be interested in France and Belgium.

What I am doing wrong is (was) using Tekin but this is a Tekno thread so let's stay on topic and respect tekno.

Granted my RX8 is currently in my SCTE instead of an 8th scale, but I often run it on the 8th scale track, complete with many more crashes in all directions than one would have with an 8th scale (thanks to the body/roll/parachute/etc), and haven't had any issues with the RX8 other than loosing part of a fan blade on a fan that never needs to turn on anyway.

That being said, I was planning MMP with a T8 1900. I think Chris mentioned they were going to do RX8 and t8 1900. We're at the same track, so someday we should hopefully be able to do an apples to apples comparison. I'm very curious now about this performance difference, and if the MMP can be tuned up to match the RX8 like I've done with friends' MMP's for short course.

@ Chris, try not to let me forget to do this if you're willing. I have the array of pinions so we can match that too. I'll be doing direct drive w/ spur, which should give a very comparable result if you have that too, since we won't have clutch settings to include or vast weight differences.

take the tekin discussion to the tekin thread instead of polluting the eb48 thread up. all speed controls have issues at some point in time. often those times are user related, but not always.

Yes, I have an RX8/1900 combo. I ordered a Traktion drive but I have pinions we can try too. Hopefully we can try this out in a couple weeks.

I plan to run the Traktion drive and pinion back to back too.
