Tuning advice needed! I'll explain what i have and what the truck is doing! I got this 4x4 used and have now ran around 6 packs through it to get used to the truck and tell what exactly it is doing handling wise.
SC10 with FT upgrades running Caliber tires soft in rear super soft up front, Blue springs front & rear, 35wt oil front 30wt rear, blue sway bars. i have no idea on what diff fluid and running Tekin RX8 with pro 4 4000 motor.
After getting used to the truck and seeing the same problem each run the ass end is way loose! There are so many things to adjust on these 4x4's i dont know what to adjust first to fix a loose condition on a 4x4 SC.
Any advice would help and yes i have searched and searched this forum with no luck!

if that does not help enough, check your diffs and put in new fluid, 20k front 7k rear seems great.

Hmm, there's lots of things to try to fix this with the SC4X4, problem is when you "fix" it, the truck is to slow against other trucks, I would not advise any serous racer, and by that I mean who really likes to win, to buy this truck for loose outdoor tracks, the best mod, get a Losi.
And why do i not see any support on this thread from one of the Associated team drivers?

but, the winner on this track in 4x4 sct drove an sc10 4x4. I guess he's not a serious racer. http://www.teamassociated.com/news/r...rse_Nationals/
here's the video. Big outdoor track that a losi should theoretically dominate, especially for "serious" drivers at a short course nationals race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzz0YHWs8dc
the losi's a good outdoor truck and many would argue that it's easier to drive outdoors. But, the sc10 4x4, can be competitive outdoors, as evidenced above once tuned. I'm sure there's some races that I'm missing. I guess a lot of the most recent short course races are indoors (short course showdown, etc), which the sc10 4x4 performs very well.

I will say that associated has a great section for setup sheets that are for any type of track. They're definitely good starting points for setup: http://www.teamassociated.com/cars_a...anuals_setups/

I'll preface that there are a lot of other, more experienced and better drivers than me that can provide better tech advice than me. However, I'll give my 2 cents.
a lot of the guys will say rcshox center diff mod helps on loose tracks over the standard slipper (or possibly even the FT vts slipper). go to the rcshox thread and read up on it. I've installed it and my truck drives a lot better (indoor or out). Here's a video of, I believe one of the rcshox employees driving overly aggressive on loose dirt and it still had good grip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjlWBzWNjkE
There's some debate here, but the exotek chassis can help lower the center of gravity and keep the truck more planted, especially outdoors.
Putting the front springs in the rear (some guys put blue fronts in the rear) will make the truck jump better.
Hope this helps.
Most would admit that out of the box this is not the easiest truck to drive. But it is pretty sturdy and CAN be tuned. I was on the losi thread last night speed reading 1000+ posts and lol. Although the losi is easier to drive most people spend $330 trying to keep it from falling apart. You probably saying what mine is perfect, whatever. lol. I said most not all. The TLR kit is $129, better chassis $100, other upgraded suspension pieces $50 -$100. Plus the $279 to buy the truck. That is around $550 to make it perform and not fall apart. I am sure the sc10 4x4 is no cheaper in the long run if you get the exotek chassis. And all of the RCshox hopups. Both truck have their uses. Both are winning. As of late AE does appear to be winning a bit, lets see how nationals go. Also, keep in mind, for us not so fast guys, the Losi will always "feel" better. And you will be faster if you can keep your truck on its wheels and on the track. My goal is to get the sc10 4x4 on it wheel and on the track without breaking my bank. It appears that SC4x4 racing may end up being too expensive no mater what I buy. Thank god for 1/10 buggy, cheap as hell to race, lol.

Yeah know ?
Its really difficult to tune a Sc 10 4x4 on the internet .

Best advise can give you is first have someone with more experience test drive your truck .
Also try his ride out for a few laps .
Doing this is fantastic short cut in gaining knowledge on tuning ....
yeah, there is a guy at my local track that always wins with his sc10 4x4. He has been working on a setup and does not used any aftermarket upgrades, nor is he sponsored. He just runs a tram edition with the FT upgrade kit and shims. he does not even use saddle packs.

Dude there is NO dust on that track, compared to our type tracks that would be like racing on carpet.
I've worked very hard on my SC10 over the last year, read my other posts, the thing is I can beat the other guys in most classes, guys I used to lap in SC4X4 sold there SC10 and got the Losi, now there kicking my butt.
The issue I have is to make the truck drivable in a straight line, on a loose track, you NEED to reduce the rear drive, just a little, but enough that the other tracks just power past, the only fix I can see for this, is a center diff.
My truck drives great, is on rails, just to slow out of turns to beat the other trucks here, and if you look at my sig you will see a Losi 8E, and yes I do win with that, IMO the SC10 needs a real center diff to foot it on outdoor loose tracks.

If I can get someone to film my truck on a loose loamy track today I will. You can make the sc10 work.
Losi does handle out of the box better, but durability and wear on parts and the famous 'Losi slop' is crap.
