Hey guys, I just got my FT 4x4 and am putting it together. Im on the diffs, I was told to get a diff rebuild kit because the gears that come with the kit were bad, but they look fine. Are there any issues with the kit gears anymore?

I think the kits shims were wrong.

Add double stacking to the shims on the spider gears and the gear mesh is WAY to tight.
A tight gear mesh will act like thicker fluid.

I found single stock shims on the spiders and .3 under the sun's to be perfect.
here you go

The newest version of the exotek chassis will work with the FT saddle kit. Basically if you bought the exotek chassis within the last two months you should be good to go.

there used to be a page that i can not find any more that would tell ya what each adjustment would do.

i think it would be a great page to refer new drivers to and or people like me that forgets. anyone know of a page like that ? or an app. ?

edit, i found this one but its old and for buggies (im sure it doesnt change for other vehicles). i dont like the lack of explanation about roll center on this one as far as raising or lowering it.

So the shims under the sun gears are about .2 stock. Are you guys using a different shim? I think I read something about an xray shim, would this be it?

The xrays are nice, but their $$$. They have a little larger OD than stock as well as being .1 thicker. Trick parts has a good price though.

ok so i just got back from the track.. the 5k in the rear was way better! and i went 20k in the front which gave me a lot of steering but i think im gonna go back to 30k.. the truck still felt loose in the rear.. if i go to 3k will it take the fish tailing away? it was hard to square the truck around when approaching a big triple coming out of a turn.

Lower the rear roll center by adding more wasther/spacers under the inner ballstud on the camber link. I found that without the 8mm mod I liked 5mm. You can also lower rear ride height slightly, about 1mm lower than your front that should help on power traction.
