The spur is 44T. There's room for 24+ pinions. We run 16/44T currently and the buggy has plenty of speed. If you wanted to use a lower kv motor and gear up, you can do that. And of course if you're going for speed, you can do that too .

You have to compete with very experienced producers, how did you solve the lag of experience and testing on plastic parts?
We actually started the company making plastic parts for the Revo. Wing mounts, RX boxes, a-arms, etc. We are quite confident that the plastics being used are as good or better than what most companies are using. And some of the parts are exactly the same material as what other companies are using.

We understand that this is our first car and we'll have some issues, but we've been making parts for years. We've made many types of parts on a car already (driveshaft, gear, wing mount, chassis, mud guards, a-arms). We just put them all in one kit this time.

Other companies have bigger budgets but they also have more overhead and more waste. Additionally, we're not rushing the car out to meet a deadline like some of the bigger companies do. I don't know exactly how much testing they do before a release but we have tested this car and tested this car some more (since September 2011). We have 7 prototypes racing many times a week and sometimes testing all day. We're always evaluating and trying to make the car better.

We can't rush the car out with bad quality, no one will stick with Tekno if we did. We're trying to create a relationship with our customers that lasts for years. Not just for this car, but for our future cars and parts as well. If we have a major issue, we're going to solve it and take care of the customer so they want to keep running our products.

Ive seen the car in action in person and I know its a good vehicle. I sure wish money grew on trees so I could pick one up! I just hope the V4 support stick around for a bit longer so I can continue to enjoy my D8 and use it till its no longer worth keeping.

As an aftermarket company ourselves, we totally understand your direction to go full kit as part of your growth and evolution.

Your upgrade parts are well thought out for performance with no corners cut. None of which would have happened without long hours of work and being small. Betcha you work over 80 hours a week.

It is great to see other small companies grow to this level and offer racers a complete car that is 100% Tekno. Since we all know that aftermarket companies pioneer performance upgrades that eventually end up in the factory production kits. Good to see Tekno now use it in their own potential winning chassis.

We believe in supporting companies like Tekno as we would like others to support us.

Keep up the good work!

Because of this buggies lightweight, would a castle 2400kv 1415 work well with a lightweight 3s setup?

Yes, but use a smaller 4s pack. 3s pulls too many amps and heats things up. A 4s/4000 would be great.

They won't be as expensive as Serpent. They will be more in line with the other high end buggies. It varies from part to part due to manufacturing methods, how the molds are laid out, materials, etc. But we definitely wanted to make them price-friendly.

Okay. Can you explain what you mean by "3s pulls too many amps"?

Sure, amps x volts = watts. Watts = power. You need a certain amount of power to get these buggies going. When you decrease the voltage, you increase the amp draw to get the same power. Amps create heat and stress the electronics.

This is why 2s packs get killed and puff so often in 4x4 SC trucks with 4600kv motors. This is also why people sometimes run 6s in buggies and truggies with slower (~1400kv) motors. The total speed is roughly the same, but the higher voltage will deliver the power more efficiently.

So if there is a choice between 3s and 4s, go 4s. If you're looking at a 3s/5000 for example, a 4s/4000 will be roughly the same size and weight so you don't lose anything there either. But you'll have more punch and better run time with the same total power.
