Overall I feel that the springs were a good investment.
I was using the orange/yellow Losi springs prior to switching.
I used Yellow rear, red front Avids.

Rears - ■Yellow: Rate: 1.99lb | Wire: 1.17mm | Coil: 12.50 | Length: 63mm | ID: 16.25mm

Fronts - ■Red: Rate: 3.28lb | Wire: 1.17mm | Coil: 7.75 | Length: 44mm | ID: 16.25mm

Front Oil - 35
Rear Oil - 30

This setup was for Norcal Hobbies - indoor.
What pistons and shock locations were you running? I assume AE shock oil.

I've attached my West Coast RC setup which works at almost any indoor track. On the front end, I also run #2, 30wt with 3 limiters and outside on the front arm. For this case, I liked the inside arm setup with 32.5wt. If you get too thick in front, it can throw off the balance in jump landings, so watch out.

I've found that with the AVID springs, you can run thicker oil that you couldn't run before with the kit springs, and the car still can manage the small bumps, but then it really helps the jumping/landing. AVIDs handle different than the Losi due do being thicker wire and more coils. In the rear I've tried GHEA #3 with 27.5, AE #2 with 32.5, and my current setup and all are very close in handling.

I got faster with the big bore springs.

My local track can get pretty rutted out, and they do a much better job of sucking it all up.

I'd start with red/yellow if I were running a full size pack, but your mileage may vary.

+1 I run a shorty with red in front and white in rear. Yellows felt a lot better with a standard pack, but with a shorty white rear red front are a lot more planted

Default clear diff lube

is it just mine, or did everyone else's diff lube that came with the WC kit was dodgy, was just really thick like a paste.

lucky I had extra clear diff lube lying around.

have built four B4's over the last few years, this has got to be the worst. The flashing on the chassis is really bad.....

+1. Kyosho big bores are a smoother set up but at what price? Set of shocks for the price of a buggy roller? But Kyosho BB are so last month. The new flavor of the day is Avid springs. It seems that everyone likes to jump on every new fandangled gizmo that comes out. Did you see the pic of (insert pro driver's name here) prototype (insert part name here). I gotta get it! No you don't! You wont drive like said pro. Check your lap times. How much faster did you get swapping let say springs? Mid pack times to now TQ? I guess it's like women and Victoria Secrets. They could just as well wear cheaper Hanes No one sees their underwear but it makes them feel better knowing that they're wearing Vicky's secret.

It's the indian not the arrow!
+1. You tell the truth kemo sabe.

A while back I purchased some AE diff lube at my LHS that had a red label. The sales guy told me it was an older formula that was reissued. Has anyone heard of this? Or did I fall for the oldest trick in the book?

The funny thing is the stuff is amazing. My diffs last forever, my lap times have gone down 5 seconds per lap, and I have TQ'd every race since switching to the red diff lube. Amazing! LOL Just kidding...

The red label lube was made for 12th scale, #6636 and it's usually a bit thicker because it was made for pan cars. I have used it before and it works great in the diffs.

Hey guys, newbie here to the B4.1 thread. Sorry if this question has been asked, but are there any rumors of a revised B4.1 with big bores being released anytime soon? If so, who/what is the source of the rumor and what time frame are they looking at?

Thank you for posting your setup!

Is there a big difference between drilled AE blanks and the old Losi blanks like they used in the XXX series shocks? When I measured them the AE pistons I had were like .397 and the TLR pistions were .402. I can remember guys in the early 1990s going both ways with those parts...
