Okay, seems legit.

You should at least try the EXO so you can give an honest opinion on the two, i have tried both and the EXO is better!
I believe you, but you could tell me that sewer rat tastes like pumpkin pie and I'd believe that too because I'm not going to ever going to try it. I'm burned out doing development work on this truck, and I'm tired of the level of maintenance 4w short course requires to not DNF, which is why I bought a B4.1 this morning. Last buggy I owned was 1994.

I am biased on truck performance because the tracks i run on are large 1/8 scale tracks where the Losi excells. Indoors , from the nats a few weeks ago i can say that the Losi cant handle the AE for sure!
My truck is so bitchin' indoor right now I don't care about outdoor anymore - the AE designed the 4w as a big race truck, and I'm going to select what classes I run going forward accordingly. If I do go run somewhere outdoor with it and it lacks grip, I'm going to put the recoupled slipper plate on and just deal with it.

Last year, there was one track within an hour drive of my home. Today, there are eight in the same drive, nine if you count the sedan track I run at, one of them indoor. This AM, I got an email from the same solo outdoor club track (outdoor 1/8th scale) from a year ago saying that they needed a bunch of help else they were going to close down.

My primary action objective (to get this truck to work better outdoor) has been re-prioritized.

I already had the shortys because of my Losi 22t. I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the $ and get the saddle packs and brace. Don't mind spending the bucks if it's really worth doing...
The problem with the stick pack is the cross weight is all funky if you have the shock collars adjusted even left to right. 3oz in the LF corner fixes that; but Hartson kicked everyones ass with a stick pack and no weight at the Jconcepts race. If the fastest turns on the track are right hand, the chassis wedge (crossweight) is probably an advantage.

If the grip is medium to good, there are a lot of ways to successfully campaign and dominate this truck. If you have to run on a non grooved outdoor hardpack track (like we get for like six months out of the year in this part of California), or treat the throttle on the transmitter like a lightswitch (on, off, on, off), one of the shaft drive options will likely suit you better.

Anybody got a good setup for a clicker?

Great news and congrats!
Yeah in Oregon seems like we get 3 months of Sun for outdoor racing. Our NW SC Nationals is coming up in 4 weeks and I need some big outdoor track practice. Nogeating a 180deg turn 80 feet away is way different than the 40 feet at the indoor track. Especialy for my "older" eyes. I actually have a different contact perscription for outdoor racing. Guess that might make me a hard core RC racer.

A lot of the guys I race carpet oval with stopped stickering cars and doing custom paint because they didn't want the weight unless in improved the LH bias and it was at or near ride height. Black is the lightest color, you can do one and add about 3 grams total weight. Guess what color my oval car is.

That color change paint would be a good option to keep it light but with some pizzazz. It's a really thin paint that is transparent until you put on the backing color. One light coat of the color change with one coat of black backing would give you a nice effect without too much weight.

First club race on hard packed dusty outdoor good flowing track(1/10 track) I set TQ by a lap and placed second in main to another AE. 12 trucks in all, 3 AE's, 3 Traxxas and the rest were all Losi's with the local fast guy wheeling the Losi. All with AE parts and used carbon c tab but installed it right side up for more adjustability. This truck will powerslide through the turns very well and keeps good corner speed. I could not be happier with this truck and I think I may have found a vehicle that fits my driving style. Kudos AE.

Actually, not entirely true. Limiting the uptravel and using the Xray 15x5x0.3mm sun gear shims both also help. Maybe not as much as the bearing mod, but they DEFINATELY do help.

Well I just ordered the ft upgrade kit. Hoping this improves the handling of the truck some.

While I'm at it any tips or other things I should do???

Matt , good move ..

suggest trying the heavy duty pad on the ft drive ( 1st pad behind slipper)

The Ae VTS slipper & the new steering rack really improves feel & performance on the track ....

toss in the saddle conversion tray & new chassis brace and the Ae conversion becomes a killer deal also $$$$......

i was just wondering if its been done and how well it worked.

thanks.
I am running the castle 3800 motor with the stock rtr esc and it has been fine. I am actually coming of about 20 degrees cooler on the esc after I switched to the castle motor.

I have two extra heavy duty pads I bought if that makes a difference when installing the new slipper. I'm anxious to get the upgrade kit and get it together and turn some laps. Seems everyone that buys the kit likes it.

I hear ya on the B4! I picked up a used b4.1 w/ the 8mm chassis and 8.5 hobbywing combo.,about a month ago. I always hated the buggy group at the track, so many heats and mains. But now I'm in the group and loving it.

The buggy is so much fun to drive. I had been away from my local track for about a month, showed back up w/ my sc104x4 and buggy. Never drove buggy on the track, I ended up a lap off my normal pace, 17laps, w/ the truck, but hit the 17 lap mark w/ the buggy. I was surprised, pleasantly...

Between my e-buggy, n-buggy and the 2wd buggy, my 2wd SC and 4x4 SC truck might have to find some new homes........

b4.1's are cool if you can find the traction. I can't wait to run mine indoor.

Without the motor installed, how smoothly should you be able to spin the spur gear and have the belt and both diffs move?
