got to remember that these motors are pushing around vehicles that have a good amount of weight to them on 2S . Still can get hot.

The lrp motors just always run hotter, its in the design. They don't have much ventilation.

part of the reason I am looking at the speed passion V2 right now, has good amount of ventilation in comparison to the Tekin SCX.

Got word too that speed passion has a new 550 sized motor on the way as well for this spring.

Default Battery questions?

Hello sc10 4x4 owners, I'm just getting into the 4x world of rc and have a question about batteries and hope you guys are willing to offer some help. I have ordered the FT truck, anxiously awaiting its shipment, and trying to get all the necessary things ordered for the build. I plan to run it with a Tenshock sc411 4000kv motor. I have a bunch of Gens Ace 40c 5000 already and would prefer to not have to spend a couple hundred more on batteries right now. Will those batteries run the truck or am I'm going to burn them up, even if I gear it correctly. Thanks, your help/advice is appreciated.

Kris

I run gens ace 40c 5000mah on my sc10 4x4 with no issues at all so you should be good to go...... Actually I just ordered some 5000mah 50c gens ace so I want to see how those perform as well....

since your going with the FT, I'd recommend going with the saddle pack setup. Keeps the weight centered down the chassis and makes the truck handle better.

Gens Ace sells saddles for 30 bucks a pop.

unless you are indoors I wouldn't run an open vented can. Dirt gets in there on the rotor and stator and messes it up, causes cogging issues. This could happen (has happened to me) during a race.

+1 really handles better with saddle lipos.

If you are wanting more runtime and higher C rating, Pro match racing has there saddle lipos back in stock. Free shipping too with orders over $100.

Will keep that in mind. haven't had issues in past with open can usage in other vehicles in conditions out here, but maybe the layout of the sc104x4 can affect things.

Also works better with 2-pole 550 motor.

You prefer the 550 over the 540 motor Rick?

+1

Also, can you give us any insight into things coming down the pipe for handling improvements for the SC104x4? For example, higher rate shock springs?

The 540 is best when the track is right. A large jump right out of a turn usually requires the 550 torque.

That I do not know about. But work on the truck is ongoing and springs are an area that we are looking to improve upon for all platforms.

Budget batteries like the Gens Ace are nice but do you think the 25c rating is going to be adequate to run the sc411 4000kv motor?

Curious why a 2 pole 550 and not one of the new 4 pole 550's?

Thats why I didn't recommend the gens saddle pack, the tenshocks are known to be power hungry and I think at a 25c rating will cause the lipo's to run hot when used with the tenshock...... I'm no expert so its up to you if you want to try them.......
