But atleast I did better with my 2wd SC, I placed 5th in the A.
You are not the only one from motorama thinking about having 2 trucks...

I'm not the one uploading. A friend brought the badass camera, and took the shots.

I was having an issue with the rear of the truck coming around very easily ever since I went to the saddle setup. I knew the truck would be different but DAM, it was almost un-drivable.

So, for starters, he suggested that i go to 30k from 20k (was the strongest I could get at while I was at the track, that's how bad my truck was, I changed the diff fluid at the track) and 5k from the 10k I had. Also, told me to go with 0 front camber and -2 rear. I did all that except the rear diff because I couldn't get any 5k. In the first heat, the truck was tons better, but still not where I wanted it to be, so I went from yellow sway bar in the front to a blue one and from blue in the rear to a white. In the second heat, my truck was even better, and almost where I wanted it, but i decided another change was in order. At this point in time, my buddy "nmdesertracer" was going crazy with me doing so many chages to my truck. So, after the second heat race, I went to blue springs in the front (had yellows on before) and to whites (had blues) in the rear. Now my truck was feeling AWESOME!!! So, I ran a "3rd" heat (had them run the loop for 5 mins during intermission and I somehow broke a shock cartridge. So, I replaced it and put 35 wt instead of 32.5 in the fronts. During the main, The truck ran absolutely perfect!! Was running 2nd when I hit Lipo cut off at the 9:30 mark... Well, thought I would Post my new setup for you guys if anyone need's a good one for a large, bumpy, medium to low traction 1/8 scale track. Hope this help's some people. Any questions, feel free to ask.

With or without center diff?

Does anyone know the size of the thrust bearing from the rear diff part asc91090, I'm going to replace mine with one of these:

Default SC10 4x4 arms

I recall amongst the many pages of this thread Shaun mention his issues with warping arms on his truck. I always store my trucks on a stand not just to avoid any issues with the arms but to avoid flat spotting the foams in the tires (if I leave them on).

A few weeks ago I bent a right front CV during a race. I figured it was caused by the fact that I don't run the shock shaft boots and needed to run more shims on the shaft to prevent the CVs moving too far up and hitting the outdrives. I installed another 2mm shim for a total of 4mm plus the rubber bumper. I replaced the CV and moved the arm up through the stroke to make sure it was not hitting the outdrive. Last week after a race night I inspected the truck and sure enough, the same right front CV was bent again.
Checked the other CVs and they were fine. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the right front arm is totally tweeked. Not so much on the front side but you can really see it on the back side. Not just a little but quite a bit. This truck is only 1.5 months old and only raced/practiced twice a week. This should not be happending.

I love BS'ing. At work, i'm the 'smart' one, at Meldrum, I'm usually the knowledgeable guy. At PRCR, Hell i'm nothin' there. Kinda a relaxing feeling not having people's expectations!

I'm tearing my truck down with full Bearing rebuild and the shock/slipper settings we discussed as I type... I'll be out there Sunday only because I need to see the difference before he changes the track and my "comparison" is void.

Anytime two or more racers get together and talk there is ALWAYS a give and take! Its just natural...everyone has their own unique perspective on things. Problems get solved from different "angles". This thread is a prime example.

So the first practice, I went out and found out that I forgot to put one of the bearings in the rear tranny so my rear top shaft was wiggling and I ended up stripping a spur. So that ended my run with less than 1 lap. Once I fiquired out the promblem it took me hours to find another spur. Not one hobby shop had one, thank god a fellow racer had a spare or I would have been done for the whole weekend. So for the secound practice, it didnt really go any better. The track was 3 times worse and rutted then before my first practice run. I had no rear traction and the rear end constantly washed out, I also had to really "feather" the throttle to get around the track, while the losi's where full throttle everywhere even through the rough stuff. I switched to blue rear springs and to the 3-3 block and I gained my traction back. But by that time it was after 10:00 PM and I wasnt staying till 12:00 PM to get another practice run in. By the end of qualifying on Saturday I was about 30th out of 165 drivers. But I still couldnt "push" my truck hard enough like the losi's where to get into the bump up spot I needed to get into the next main today. There was two table tops about 5 feet apart. The losi's could hit the first table and clear the whole thing landing on the downside of the 2nd table. So the next lap I tryed it and was pretty unsuccessful, I was loosing time in that section but could not clear it for the life of me. I guess on big, rutted 8 scale tracks the losi does have an advantage on the AE. My truck was bouncing around through the rutted rough parts of the track when I tryed to push it even though I added 3 ounces of lead weight. The rear end still wanted to come around as well. I guess the center diff will help.

As well as getting punted into pipes because the losi would come and plow me out of the way.

Just wanted to share my experience! Wasnt to bad of a day but not as I expected it to be.
This is exactly how we lost SYM (RIP!! HAHAHA) I am holding on for dear life and praying that my reverse idler theory actually works otherwise i will have to buy another truck just for the long jump tracks and its a shame because my truck RIPS up the rest of the track!

Chad, the center dif and 2 stage would have solved alot of your handling issues especially the rear end looseness and bouncing around on the rough stuff. But i feel your pain, i have to go through this scenario every weekend, there are a few guys that should not be able to beat me and are breathing down my neck just because of two series of jumps, any other track and they are toast!

Okay, I need a little setup help. Right now my setup is the Ryan reedy race setup with 30wt oil in the rear and stick not saddle packs. I am suffering from on power understeer. I can enter the corner fine but when I apply throttle to exit the truck pushes a lot.

Anyone else try this setup? The truck seems so much more stable and planted. I just have to find a way to mount the electronics now. Any ideas?
