the seam shouldn’t be doing any work if the foam is glued to the actual rim properly. It could have a gap in reality.

the seam is really there just to make mounting it easier.

The weight without bearings is more relevant. Rotational mass being low is more important than total.

the a800 diff is very light indeed though, and holds more oil than the a700.
