Which is exactly why this should be under the b5m or off road thread..

So they have a certified plus now...... Having owned 3 certs, they should have done all that to the certs. not have another level of certification.

Just another selling ploy.

JEFFs SC10 06-07-2016 02:56 PM

Do they make a 24k 25.5 'certified'?

Madulla 06-07-2016 06:00 PM

Doesn't ROAR have a rule that states a stock motor can only cost a maximum $149. The new "plus" motor is $175...

Jpdanger 06-07-2016 06:05 PM

$175 each. Is timing the only difference between the various scale applications? They have a 17.5 1s Certified Plus, but not certified.

For that kind of money, the motor can should actually be 24 karat gold. :D

In that case, the Cash 4 Gold guys are heavy breathing!

From what I read a regular certified could be +/-30 on the rotor and the stator readings.
The certified plus will be +/- 4 and come with sealed ceramic bearings, a dyno printout and be timed for your application(onroad, offroad).
From the ROAR rules:
8.5.2.2 The maximum retail price of a “05” brushless motor shall be $149.00.
8.5.2.3 The maximum retail price of a 1/8th brushless motor shall be $299.00.

So will it be legal? Is it worth it if it is?

imprsme 06-08-2016 06:31 AM

nevermind

JEFFs SC10 06-08-2016 08:54 AM

The only difference is ceramic bearings right?

Most people tune their own motors and you can put your own ceramics in.

I wonder if 8.5.2.2 means MSRP or street value??

I can't wait to see how many racers will keep motor receipts during tech inspections at roar races  The stock class has gotten out of hand..

Madulla 06-08-2016 09:24 AM

$175 is Street Price on their website...

Anyone know the size of the screws that you use to adjust timing?

Are these the ones?

I'd say Yes to the ones @ A-Main.
