I tried low timing with a lower FDR but this motor prefers higher timing and a higher FDR. If you have a motor checker, try to get the max rpm and kv without a spike in amp draw as you move up on the timing. If the amp suddenly spikes as you move up another degree, you went to far.

HV will unlock more and tested it against other HV packs, they are all comparable between brands.

Excellent info, thank you!

Anyone know the best break in method for a new Trinity motor?

There is no break in for brushless motors.

Edit.

Love this 24K Trinity motor

I am loving this Team Trinity 24K 6.5T more and more.

I've set my R10 Pro to a punch profile #3.

I am running 10° of boost. And 15° of turbo timming. And I and running 33° total timming on the motor for a total of 58° of timming.

Man does it scream on a straight! Nice smooth power band. Running a 25T aluminum Trinity pinion and temps are super cool! Coming off around 140F usually.

Life's good.

For a 17.5 motor, what is the amp draw that most people are aiming for with these motor? I know that on my D4 1s motors that they like 7.7-8 amps. Much more than that and they lost a lot of bottom end

dsms4ever 05-19-2016 09:28 AM

For my certified 17.5 24k, trinity set it up for me running 2wd buggy, set timing on the can to 60 and I think it only pulls like 5.5 amps and the sticker says 22300 or so rpm.

Why is this thread dead? I was under the impression that this motor was the one to buy... I called trinity this morning to talk about what the whole short stack gig was truly about and what would be better for a 13.5 motor... The d4 1s or the new 24k... They re assured me the 24k would be the best.

I guess it's like everything else with electronics it's all about preference once it's "good enough".

I have try my new 24k 13.5 on 1/10 touring blinky, nice motor plenty of torque, i have try fdr 3.89 @50 timing, but i not have see high speed comparated with the other cars on track, next time i want to try fdr 3.68@50 timing, i use lrp flow with firmw 5.4 initial drive 18%, track with a stright of 30 meters, some suggestion?

Because it was under the Off-Road forum but the moderators decided to move it Radio/Electronics (I understand the reasoning). But it is now out of the main stream.

So it is kind of out-of-sight out-of-mind.

Today i have try fdr 3.68 @50 on end bell , very high speed but temperature over 85°C, in second attempt i have try also fdr 3.78 and timing just a little bit more of @50 on end bell, with great results on top speed and temperature near 75°C , i use 40x40 fan

dsms4ever 05-29-2016 05:20 PM

Why in the world so you have a sub 4 fdr??? I'm running like a 6.5 for my 24k 17.5. Let the motor rev out!! I'll start at probably an 8 with my 13.5. What spur and pinion are you running??

Dan 05-29-2016 05:51 PM

He probably means for touring car, not buggy.

Lizard66 05-30-2016 01:39 AM

yes touring car

Anyone know if the D4 sensor will work as a replacement? Nobody has them in stock and i refuse to pay $19 shipping from trinity.

Don't think so...2 different part numbers:

D4--TEP1732
24K-REV1832

Thats what i was thinking. I'll wait till Amain gets them in stock.
